hmm, some of that seems a bit sketchy to me to be honest, not sure how Tarot card reading fits into a relationship with Jesus.

Um... yeah... that's defin NOT a Christian event. A hippie and cult show... yes. Christian... no. Not with Tarot cards.

Actually... I'm more concerned about something else in the article now: "Unity Church"
I've got relatives mixed up heavily in this "Church" it's actually a full-blown cult and is VERY far from accurate Christian beliefs.
Quote
"Unity is all-inclusive, and so therefore having the Circus here is absolutely in line with our belief structure," Dials says. Unity, a Christian denomination with more than 2 million members worldwide, grew out of the 19th-century New Thought movement.
"We understand that there are many paths to God. We don't say you have to be Christian or Buddhist. We don''t tell you what to believe in," Dials says. "Human beings are creative and so however that manifests itself is part of our mission."
That doesn't jive at all with the Jesus I know who said:
Quote from: John 14:5-7 (New International Version)
Thomas said to him, "Lord, we don't know where you are going, so how can we know the way?"
Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you really knew me, you would know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him."

I dunno. I guess in my mind there's a difference between playing a secular club and playing an event that openly says what Christ said is wrong. In one, you're just playing to sinners. In the other, you're playing to blasphemers. I think it's probably a personal conviction, but at the same time... I would not want to be directly associated with that group.
Yes, I think they need to be reached. I just don't think it's time to reach them in the middle of THEIR worship service, which is what that event sounds like. In fact, if they came in and did that in my church, I know we wouldn't stand for it. Just from a high level view, it's a pretty rude thing to do. Unless I was invited as part of a debate where I was openly allowed to challenge them... I just don't think going is a good idea.

well to be fair to Aaron, he didn't say it was a Christian event. He said "spiritual" and we, as we tend to do, assumed it was gonna be a Christian event. It is sad that this is getting attention as the "alternative" to a "real" rave. Why is it never the Christian parties that get this kind of great free publicity?

yeah, i see your point, but to be fair to me this is a so called community focused on Christ centered culture. also, i'm pretty sure my statement focused on the event and not Aaron's standpoint.
i think what attracts publicity to an event like this spiritual rave is that it comes across as an event that tries to build community. i think that community has a broad appeal and in some cases, the way christianity is presented or perceived (ex. "hellfire and brimstone" christianity) is not attractive to people who want community.
* this is just my observation based on some people i meet in my classroom and at work, it doesn't necessarily represent a bigger picture..
side note #2
sorry if this treads on the spiritual debate stuff, i'm not necessarily stating fact, just an observation.

I would think that they would let you spin "Christian" dance music. They accept all. Right? And believe many paths lead to heaven. You would just be expressing your path.
It says in the article it is a Christian faith.

Is it a rave or an event of worship. If it is a rave tehn I would think it would be a great opportunity to witness to people. Especially if they are half way there, and just need a little direction towards right doctrine. I witness at teh Club/bar every chance I get.

Lack of organization and effort. Period. IN that respect if anyone is interested in pursueing (sp?)something like this in an area where there would be attendance enough to justify it. PM me.

Unity... is a cult that is often portrayed as Christian like Mormonism and Jehovah's Witness.

I thought it was pretty clear that it was at least in part a worship event. The people from Unity are not half-way there. They believe that they are there and therefore are not searching
