Your Top-Ten movies ever.

Well, ok, so this is technically a rip-off from 404's thread on 10 songs, but I am sure a bunch of you can drop 10 movies without even flinching.
Besides, usually your choice in movies says so much about you and your outlook on the world. We might learn quite a bit about each other.
oh, and a trilogy probably should count as one unless you have only one specific favorite out of the 3.
ok, me first:
The Indiana Jones Trilogy
(although 2008 is supposed to bring a 4th) : Of all the movies that inspire me the most it is archaeology movies. I love them all. But at the top of the archaeology pile is the classic Indiana and his amazing adventures around the world. So good!
Sahara
: Ok, so Dirk Pitt isn't quite as awesome as Indiana in the movie, but you can't beat Clive Cussler for a storyline. This probably not the specific book I would have picked for a movie adaptation though. This still remains one of my favorites in the character area.
Lord of the Rings Trilogy
: I read the books more times than I can count so I didn't expect the movies to really pull it off. But when I saw the first one I was hooked. I love the characters and the locations in all 3 movies and you can't beat that storyline. Amazing adaptations of the series.
The Mummy
: I would probably not have chosen Brendan Fraser for the lead but he does a pretty good job. Plus, who doesn't like Ancient Egypt and the African landscape. Gotta love the effects and the storyline.
Lara Croft-Tomb Raider
: Yeah, did I mention I love archaeology movies? Ok, so this one is full of stupid theories, secret societies and illogical story events, but there is the ruins of Cambodia and some pretty cool action scenes.
Pirates of the Caribbean- Curse of the Black Pearl
: Between amazing action sequences, great dialogue, and one of the most amazing soundtracks ever, this movie was a hit with me on every level. You can't beat a good pirate movie.
National Treasure
: Yeah, yeah, yeah... so shoot me, I love history/archaeology movies. So, this plot is a bit of a stretch, but I loved the whole idea of a treasure hidden in the heart of an American city. And to include all the history and founding father's stuff is genius. A great soundtrack tops this off. Great stuff.
Princess Bride
: This just is a crazy funny and adventurous movie. It is a must-see in my book.
HitchHiker's Guide to the Galaxy
: This is the only space movie you will see in my list. But there is something very hope-giving in this movie. I read the book and hated it but this movie was an addiction when it first came out. I love the fact that even though everything is completely out of Arthur Dent's control it all seems to work out in the end. Good stuff.
Duma
: This movie about a boy and his cheetah didn't really do much in theatres, but I bought it on DVD because it is definately one I wanted in my collection. It has a great storyline, some amazing africa landscapes, and an amazing adventure. Good characters and a great storyline.
I probably have another 25 where those came from, but I am sure you can guess what genre they are mostly in.

This isn't really my top-10 ever, but here's my list in no particular order and without synopses....
Dark City
Matrix trilogy (since we're counting trilogies as one entry)
The Count of Monte Cristo
Lord of the Ring trilogy
Pi
Saving Private Ryan
The 9th Configuration
Braveheart
The Breakfast Club
The Green Mile

you
can't
count trilogies as one movie!
(nice pick on dark city! & uhhh...hitchhiker's is a criminal offense compared to the book(s). the cheapo BBC miniseries was better, imo)
my list to follow in a day or so when i have time to think about it

The Shawshank Redemption
Schindler's List
Two excellent movies that weren't on my list.

Cast Away
I never did made, but I had an idea for a music video. I was going to use the song "Don't Say Good-bye" by Paulina Rubio and use footage from "Cast Away". It would follow the tragic relationship of Chuck (Tom Hanks) and Wilson.

I dunno about my top ten but my no.1 'must-see' movie has to be 'American Beauty'. Masses of profound issues of modern life are dealt with in a non-gratuitous fashion. It's both deeply sobering and funny too, at times. Very thought provoking.
You mustn't miss 'V for Vendetta' either. V is very suave and some of the concepts/statements struck me as basically Biblical. Cracking, intelligent stuff!
Also worth watching, in my opinion:
Delicatessen
Jean de Florette & Manon des Sources
In the Name of the Father
Trainspotting
Banlieue 13 (District 13) - a funky soundtrack and the parkour is amazing
Chacun Cherche son Chat (When the Cat's Away) - so sweet!
Breaking the Waves (VERY emotionally wrenching, though)
An Inconvenient Truth
(Oh. That's ten after all!
)

While I'm muling over my list still...I have to pick on these choices.
Lara Croft-Tomb Raider
Lame movie. Stupid ideas, stupid concepts, retarded looking weapons, poor plot. If you try actually looking at it as it should be; an art. It fails. It entertains but it's not nearly the quality movie I would expect. Especially given the hype, backing, and budget. Purpose of movie: Get Angelina Jolie on screen again for the to get horny TR playing teens into theatres. Sorry, just IMHO.
IMDB Score 5.2/10
Pirates of the Caribbean- Dead Man's Chest
See above but replace with teenage girls obsessed with these actors. First PotC was good. This was a lame attempt at adding more unnecessary story for getting more money from what could have been a fantastic stand-alone movie. I mean, undead I can buy. Sea monsters I can buy. Davy Jones looking like a squid grew on his face? Come on. Davy Jones is supposed to be human. Kinda fights against how it's supposed to be a 'pirate' movie. Additionally, they
screwed up a lot
(to me showing lack of attention to detail lost in trying to make the movie so quickly...Not that others don't screw up though.
)

your synopsis is actually about Dead Man's Chest (which I have yet to see) cause Davy Jones isnt in the first. But the link you provided is about the first movie and man, that guy was attention to detail, I wouldnt of picked up a 1/3 of that.
