I live a town over from the main factory and HQ of Hasbro Toys. My friend Doug has worked there for 23 years. It is a good company and has a lot of interesting projects in the works.
I just applied there for a Copywriting job. It would essentially be writing for toy packaging, toy background stories (like where the newest GI Joe was born and his/her history), scripts for the talking toys (so they don't accidently say a swear word or something), board game instructions, and stuff like that. It also says I would be on the team that does character creation for new toys.
So, being a writer for TF as well as many writings on personal projects, I jumped at the chance.
Please pray that I land this job. It would rock. It is full time, good benefits, and not far from home.
Thanks.
z.

Two people drift in a lifeboat. One says, "I see an island. Our best chance is to go ashore, build a shelter, and await rescue." The others says, "No, we must go farther out to sea and hope to find the shipping lanes." Unable to agree, the two fight, the lifeboat capsizes, and they drown.

HOLY CRAP!!!! THAT'S THE JOB I'VE WANTED TO HAVE SINCE I WAS 10 YEARS OLD!!!!
Seriously... when I was 10, my friend and I had the next year's toy line all made out for GI Joe. It was going to be totally awesome too. Man. I REALLY hope you get it.

errr... well, college was supposed to bear the fruit of a Bachelors Degree. But, I discovered electronica and skipped too many classes to make music. So, even though I took a ton of great classes, I didn't actually graduate. Before I knew it I was in Rhode Island and everything was a blank page.
So, essentially everything is self taught. I had to teach myself music production, graphic design, and writing.
But writing has always been my true first love. I write all the time.
So, a job like this would be cool to get my foot in the door for future projects and writing opportunities.

Well, I didn't get the job. They emailed me and said the position had been filled.
So, as usual I don't know where God is going to plant me next, but I guess it isn't at Hasbro.

Sorry to hear that, Z. I'll be praying that God will make His plan clear to you. Hang in there, dude.
