Actually, I tried to download this 'free accapella' from Beatport just before Christmas and the winner was already announced then.

DOes anyone know why the package still reads at $5.96 at checkout?  Can someone forward me the acapella (for next year!)  Wink

am I the only one who thinks this new  thing weird that they want you to pay to enter a remix competition? isn't that a double rip off?: a. they get free remixes, b. they get a lot of money...

No your not the only one... but they had the vocals and 3 other samples for free (and that more than enough to work with)... you could download the complete track up in seperate sample-tracks for about 5 dollar in total.

The weird thing is the winners. 1. the are sooo tooo late with the announce who won, that the're not able to release anything... and 2. Have you heard the winning song... (not my idea of the best remix made... by far!)

They had several hundred to choose from. I wouldn't want to listen to more than 6. LOL.
Are the vocals still available anywhere for free?

Yeah, i agree. Why are most of the remixes progressive house? Surely they should've chosen best remixes to cover most genres. They're not gonna sell many progressive house remixes of the same song. If the chose a wider range of genres more djs would be interested in buying the song. Seems a little stupid to me... but i'm not bitter at all.... oh, no - not me!

It's not weird really. They figure, this is a BIG label remember not a typical small dance one, that they will have a TON of bootleg remixes floating out there. This is there way of capitalizing a bit on what they know will be a loss in the long run.

Its a bit late in the day but HisBoyElroy has done a mix that he didn't get into the competition in time.

Check it out at: http://www.hisboyelroymusic.com/

Knobtweakers.net put me onto the remix. They say...

Sarah McLachlan and His Boy Elroy

I have a late Christmas present for you. Sarah McLachlan recently offered Christmas Remix stems for a competition hosted by Beatport.com, in order to promote her new Christmas album, Wintersong. His Boy Elroy (featured several times before) intended to enter. Sadly, he missed the deadline. I suspect he might have won had he not.

I also entered this comp! Check out my 'Clank' remix at:

http://stems.sarahmclachlan.com/fileupload/listen.action;jsessionid=abccJaTqV_Q8HeRXOElar

and find it 11 tracks below 'Quillroaders' mix (which is a cool version!).

Cheers!
