I have just compiled my top 10 retrospective tracks that document the journey of Rubik Records / Spearhead Records for www.trackitdown.net

You can get all 10 tracks as a special discounted download bundle from here http://www.trackitdown.net/genre/drum_and_bass/track/234275.html

Here is what you get:

Steve BCee launched Rubik Records alongside Kubiks in 2002. Since then he has launched Spearhead Records as well as having a string of releases with Kubiks & Lomax on such labels Nu Directions, Wild Style, Intrinsic and Jerona Fruits.

BCee has hand picked 10 pivotal tracks from the labels that show the journey of the last 4 years and demonstrate why both of these labels are here to stay.

Kubiks & BCee – Lifechanges

First rubik records release and first ever BCee release, originally releases in Aug 2002. This is the version that should have been released but an earlier version of the track was accidently pressed.

Blue Sonix feat. Michael Moulton – Luv Me

BCee’s favourite release from Rubik Records.

Hold Tight & Kubiks – Salvation

This was the first track that we worked with Nick Lomax on, who went on to become a big part of the rubik / spearhead records story.

Kubiks – Don’t Stop Me (Carlito Remix)

The third release on Rubik Records, but the first that was distributed by Nu Urban Music, and the first release to gain any real attention to the label. I can remember getting the remix CD back from Carlito and pressing the play button with much anticipation. The results speak for themselves.

Kubiks – The Seeker (Davide Carbone Remix)

Davide Carbone has had a massive input into the production techniques of Kubiks. This remix really demonstrates the mix of the soulful side of Kubiks coming head on with the techy harder Davide Carbone sound.

CLS & Wax – Leisure

This was CLS & Wax’s first 12” release and the first time that we worked with artists that we had only come across through being sent tunes on AIM. This was probably the biggest track on rubik records so far and also featured on High Contrasts mixmag album.

BCee & Lomax – Slow Burner

The debut track from BCee & Lomax. BCee & Lomax – Can’t Say No (Cyantific Remix) My personal favourite of all the tunes myself and Lomax have made. Mainly due to the outstanding job that Cyantific have done on the re-work. Soulful hooks meet pure dancefloor energy, a perfect combination.

BCee & Lomax – Misguided

The debut release for Spearhead Records, launched in Jan 2005.

Brooklyn – Zissou (TC Remix)

The mighty TC put his magic touch to Brooklyn’s track Zissou with outstanding effects.

Thanks for pointing out the problem with Soul Rocker.  I hadn't noticed that.  If you don't have exactly the right MP3 encoder then trackitdown goes crazy with the track times.  I'll have to re-upload it.  Don't worry though, the track is all there!

Thanks
Steve
