Our CMS at the U had to be patched to work with it. That was THEIR fault not IE though. You could always view the pages, but you just couldn't edit them. LONG story.

Never really liked tabs.

As for security, a lot of issues have arisen due to security. We had nightmares and weeks of re-development thanks to XP Service Pack 2 added security features for IE.

We had issues with reports which were delivered in pop-up Windows and XP refused to allow them even when we authorized the the domain, etc.

Just a lot of headaches like that. Most don't plague basic websites. But web applications are far more complex.

yeah, that's the vuneribulity i was talking about. It's actually in Outlook and not IE.

Didn't know about the autodesk thing though. Wonder why they didn't update it though, they had almost a year to test it with the betas and CTP's

I've been using firefox for about 6 months now, and i still find myself going to the bottom to change tabs! I wish someone could make a skin that moves them to the bottom... or is there some setting that i haven't discovered?

1) REDMOND REPORT

By Doug Barney
Editor in Chief, Redmond magazine
this is cool..............

ADOBE GOES OPEN SOURCE IN A FLASH
Pieces of Flash are now in the hands of the public thanks to
a generous contribution from Adobe to the Mozilla Foundation.
The scripting piece of Flash was handed over so that Flash can
play a more integral part of Firefox.

maybe I'm missing something here...

1) ActionScript (the scriping lang in Flash) is based of Ecme Script and is VERY close to JavaScript. It's also very well documented. If this is what they gave, I don't get it.
2) The Flash SWF file format has been "open" for years now allowing others to develop programs that can render an SWF file for the web. Examples include Corel's RAVE, Swift 3D, various Maya and 3D Studio Max plugins and a homegrown one that IBM's education branch uses. I'm sure there are more out there though.

SO.... given this... what EXACTLY did Adobe give???

ActionScript may be based on the ECME script style. But it has numerous specialized and unique functions.

That said, I am not exactly sure what they are giving Firefox either. Maybe allowing Firefox to utilize some of it beyond Flash.  Or allowing it to be more natively embedded.

I wish Adobe would bring all the ColdFusion functions into Flash. Of all the systems I've worked with, none do I enjoy as much as ColdFusion when it comes to handling dates, time, formatting, etc. I just love ColdFusion's functions and tags.
