So here's what I am wondering...

By now you know the reality of Cornerstone...the space...the funds...etc

Given the realities...

Who would you like to see play?

What would you like to see done to the space?

Suggestions...thoughts...etc...

****Please note this is just me asking for ideas....we have not been asked back by cstone yet.  Once things are finalized in that area we will move forward in gathering demos and such.

This is all purely selfish and from my own perspective - take it for what it's worth Smiley  A survey response, if you will - but I would love to see:

Uberzone - nuff said
Evol Intent/The Enemy again - I really think the wicked grooves and sound went over well and I loved it - so rad.
Joel Armstrong - Before he gets too big and unreachable Tongue
Shiloh Again, they blew it up.

Those are my only suggestions - other than that I trust you guys with the talents to pick some good ones.  To be honest the talent level is getting so high, theres not a lot more acts at the top to choose from Smiley

The sound and vis is always evolving but it should be at least as dope as it was last year Smiley

Joel Armstrong - Before he gets too big and unreachable Tongue

x2

i thought andy hunter was well worth it in '05: the presentations he did during the day were PACKED with non-edm people, which is good.
=======================================

i'm sure whoever you guys pick will make it a GREAT time!   the question for you guys is:

1. are the big name headliners worth the money?

2. would you get more mileage out of lesser names who may help you promote around the festival?

3. do you want more of a rave feel or more of a club worship feel? or something in between?

4. do you want to try something different as in years past? (IE an ebm night perhaps? another re:fresh? another club worship-type night?)

I ditto everybody else's words, but I'd also like to humbly request that I be considered again. I had a blast in 03 and 05 and would like to return in 07. Pretty please?

Here are some brain storming ideas that would take a lot of work and logistics:

Consider changing the name; “The Dance Barn” sounds more like a venue for square dances and a good ‘ol ho-down.

Give the entrance to the “Club” a face-lift. On the outside; New signage, lights, maybe make a dope tunnel-like entrance with some other creative blah, blah. On the Inside the same kind of thing.

Have a separate venue within the venue. Clubs do this all the time. Set up a tent right out side the back entrance connected to the building. Call it “The Satellite”. This could be a place where folks go to get a “breather” from the thump. Some couches, chill lighting, smoothes, coffee, energy drinks, artist merchandise, etc. It may encourage people to stick around longer instead of coming and going as much…

A new entrance could possibly fix the "mud problem" that keeps people away from the venue too.

Not that C'Stone has any lack of mud, but it seems to gather a lot worse at the barn's entrance if I remember right.

1. are the big name headliners worth the money?

I think it's worth the money just to help them get connected with fellow believers.
2. would you get more mileage out of lesser names who may help you promote around the festival?

Nope, b/c even those who are lesser names don't help out with promotion. VERY few people actually take the time to do that and VERY RARELY is it the talent for the night. Period.

3. do you want more of a rave feel or more of a club worship feel? or something in between?

CW was awesome, but I'd like to see it done with more of an underground vibe musically rather than just vocal remixes and what not.

4. do you want to try something different as in years past? (IE an ebm night perhaps? another re:fresh? another club worship-type night?)

Yes.

A new entrance could possibly fix the "mud problem" that keeps people away from the venue too.

1) The entrance needs to be rebuilt... even if WE have to get permission to pour the 'crete and do it ourselves (Seriously, it might take that).
2) The fest has to actually open a pathway from the food court to the barn otherwise NOBODY will see it. They don't know where it is now even though there are signs.

Unless these things happen... and MOSTLY the opening from the food court... ppl won't know it's back there.

Another thing hurting it is that it can't go past 1 am anymore. None of the stages can. So... by the time main stage gets out, the is just about to close. People get there 30 min b4 it's all over.

Consider changing the name; The Dance Barn sounds more like a venue for square dances and a good ol ho-down.

That's OUR fault. It's officially billed as the Dance Club. Dance Barn is our affectionate nick for it since it is well... a barn.

Give the entrance to the “Club” a face-lift. On the outside; New signage, lights, maybe make a dope tunnel-like entrance with some other creative blah, blah. On the Inside the same kind of thing.

Again, if we want this to happen, it may have to come out of our own pockets. The fest won't ness have the funds to give the barn that much attention. It could be done, but we might need $2,000 for materials as well as lots of free labor.

Have a separate venue within the venue. Clubs do this all the time. Set up a tent right out side the back entrance connected to the building. Call it ”The Satellite”. This could be a place where folks go to get a “breather” from the thump. Some couches, chill lighting, smoothes, coffee, energy drinks, artist merchandise, etc. It may encourage people to stick around longer instead of coming and going as much…

Great idea. This would be a great place for a drink stand, but... it's pretty stinkin' close to the food court so... Tongue
