How much does DJs charge nowadays?

I was reading this thread:
http://tastyfresh.com/forum/index.php?topic=6140.0
and was wondering, what is the going rate nowadays with you DJs on here?
I know a lot on here do it as a ministry like I do, but still paid something or more as a investment.
Trying to get an idea for a price for: just me, me and lighting, or me, lighting and sound system?
whats ya'lls thoughts on this?

I rember when I did moble gigs where your talking about bringing out lights sound equipmnet it very as to how much in demand you are. The raido station used to charge 100 bucks a hour with a four hour min. The best person to ask would be Davo or Pat. D. If I'm right their both doing moble djing now. If you are in a bigger city you could prob. charge more. Hopfuly Pat and Davo will see this, or I would just p.m them.

Price is for me and equipment. I try to get a few extra $$$ for lighting or I throw it in at no extra charge. When I am spinning at some venues they already have sound & lights so my price doesn't fluctuate. Did a gig a few weeks back at an event that had equipment (sound & lights) and charged them a little xtra since it was on Halloween. usually charge a little more for New Years eve, Halloween, and other high priority venues.

it depends on what you're doing.
club night weekday-$50-125 weekend-$100-250
a normal size club w/equipement? try to get $250
a wedding? you can get $500-1800 depending on when it is & how in demand you're in. i charge $800 for a wedding (with lights, etc).
house party? $200-600.
once again, it's all depending on how in demand you are and how in demand the night is...
the way to start is to take the slowest night at a club & take the door for your payment.

If yer not known, you charge less to make yourself more attractive to club owners to get booked ($50-$150 but willing to do whatever the club owner offers). As you get to be more in demand you can charge more. If your weekends are totally booked you can charge more. As long as you have no time left to book, you can charge more for that time. When you get above you worth, you will find enough people balking at the price that you will have nights that aren't getting booked. Time to drop the prices at that point.
Also, always be willing to to contribute to the community that built you up. Some people who take a chance on you, may not be able to afford you if you get big enough. It's great for your name and rep if you discreetly reduce your prices for these people.
