we tried the east side & it was VERY tough.  it's also very, VERY hard to break through the "this is a christian rave? what the heck is that" mentality.  first you have to decide it you're doing the party as an outreach or a fellowship, then you have to walk a very fine line when promoting it if you want the desired result.    Cool

Forgive me for being a jaded Craver, but this record has been skipping for at least 10 years now. That is not pointed at you Davo. I just get so disappointed when, after 10 or so years, you guys are asking the same questions and scratching your heads when noone shows up no matter what you decide to do.

If you want to dj and have a good time, go for it. If you want to tell people about Jesus, stand on the corner (on the street or at a rave) and preach the gospel. I'm still waiting for these big parties with tons of people where the Holy Spirit falls and everyone gets saved. We have been talking about it since day one. I am still waiting........

i know you're not talking about me,because i agree. they're very few and very far in between.  the best i've seen is planting a lot of good seeds. which i think is good enough.

dont forget, there's a lot of new people around who haven't gone down this road yet, homie.

one thing that (imo) should be done more places that isn't is the club worship model.  it's a very powerful time with God.

I agree, I have been to club worship about 3 or 4 times now (even made it to the andy hunter event!) and I have to say it's one of the most amazing times I've spent with God.  It's what got me spinning... before then I only produced music, I had played keyboard for the worship band at my church so I at least know the fundamentals about building a worship enviroment but I had never even tried djing...  after going there I decided to start learning more and more...  Now I'm finding God using me more and more to lead worship...

I think what it comes down to is finding what works in your area...  my area, a lot of the kids are from urban neighborhoods, so the edm doesn't really relate to them, but if I drop some lecrae or kj-52, they love it and are dancing non-stop...  I remember listening to Michael Gungor talking about travelling with Teen Mania and doing the Aquire the Fire worship sessions and finding that different areas and crowds have a whole different personality and respond differently.  For some of us hosting a Christian EDM event is new territory in our area and the kids really don't understand it.  For me, the kids hear trance and they think techno, they hear breaks and they think techno, house -- techno, etc... so until my crowd becomes more and more receptive to the music I have to please them...

I mean yeah, you may have a HUGE rave scene in your area... but that doesn't mean that the kids in your church have ever even heard an Alice Deejay song...  get what I'm saying?   Grin

What I have found is that when I put down some of my preferences (which is hard when you're "The DJ") and I listen to God, He shows up and people notice.

Just my little rant.  Grin

So make one man. There's enough Christian DJs in NZ and OZ.
