NOTE: I previeously posted this at my regular dig, the sphereofhiphop. Unfortunately my hip-hop brethren could only come up with Andy Hunter and Discover America as possible alternatives...so I decided that you all might be more apt to answer such a query. Here it is, any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance...

Well, not literally, Not alternative as in Starflyer 59 or Poor Old Lu, but alternative as in "If you like NWA, you'll love Gospel Gangstas..."

I was talking with a friend a we were trying to figure out if there were any Christian artists or artists who are believers that make some good Trip-Hop-type music...I'm sure you all know of some to recommend. Some groups we were thinking of were Lamb, Esthero, Morcheeba, Dido, Sneaker Pimps, etc. Any direction to similar artists of this niche or genre would be great. peace.

Try that.  It's from an album I am finishing of similar styles, some more tripped (Boom Bip, Daedelus) some less tripped (Maker, Alias).  Will be sending it to Josh @ Illectronica and the folks over @ MUSH.
