Devout Artists is happy to finally announce our latest release in over 2 years - and it was well worth the wait indeed!!
Jesse Cohen aka The Weather Inside serves up an album that transcends any musical style or genre. "Colourful Year" as the title suggests is very colorful indeed. The opening track displays TWI's sense of direction here - "...place me on Your easel, paint me with a different brush, with a different color". In fact "different" is the true intent here. These tracks are not your standard run of the mill trance/techno tunes but provide a much needed and refreshing change to today's electronic music.
In addition, this album displays Jesse's amazing musical talent and his phenomenal production skills. England's Future Music magazine is already aware of him and will be featuring him in the November 2006 issue that is not to be missed.
Jesse's vocals shine on tracks such as "Dancing On Soma", "Lullabye 38" and "24-7" with lyrics that cause you to think and contemplate issues that are often ignored in electronic music - Christian or secular.
Most importantly "The Weather Inside" is just a man with a passionate desire to better serve Christ. His music is a testament to the inner workings of his soul. We are proud to be a part of this release and urge everyone to pick up a copy of "Colourful Year" asap!!
more thoughts on "Colourful Year"
Meshing vintage beats, 80s melodies, atari bits, male/female vocals, and lush orchestral arrangements, together these elements make up “Colourful Year”, the first official release from the Oklahoma City based group "The Weather Inside". Released independently through Devout Artists and Twilight Recordings. The album has been 3 years in the works and has been breaking down barriers for a commercial electronic release. Something for everyone seems to be the consensus on Colourful Year with a future forward glance into what electronic music was, is, and is becoming. An air of nostalgia surrounds the listener causing them to ask themselves "Where have I heard that sound before". TWI has a sound so familiar yet so unheard of. Gone is the extremely repetitive nature of electronic music in lieu of polyrhythms that although obviously synthetic, have an almost organic feel to them. Machine and melodies collide creating a "Colourful Year"
