Ok, you lost me on all the math and the definitions of big words.        But, what I want to know is :

404 - How in the world did you fly through 40 GB already?  I have 80 GB on my computer and I am not even half full.  I use wav files with all my music and all my designs are 300-600 dpi.

weird.   I mean, I clean out my harddrive every now and then but I have never filled it in the 2 years I have owned it.

z.
It's used for program installations, Photoshop stuff, website stuff, and all my music stuff. It was quite easy to max out 40G in a month.

No I'm just suprised how different the responses were to different posts on here.  I answered the basic question with a basic answer and got no response at all.  Adidax posted a little more of the raw numbers (that I left out) and the response was far different.  Just weird to me.  Usually a non-technical explanation that is simple enough for anyone to understand works best, but in this case apparently not.

I have a 250 gb and dont do much of anything anymore(graphics wise) and still have 160gb used up pretty quick.  Mostly cd back ups. Oh and i started converting my 8mm to digital. SO that'll rack some space.
