While i will try to do my best to give really honest advice/critique/etc. , i'm not gonna sign the pledge.
I may not always have the time available to do the once a week minimal part.

Hey Guys & Gals:

I've already given one review, but it was way to brief and general (a couple of words) so after reading through the thread and reading through the links Reds posted (thanks by the way) I will sign the dotted line to. I will try hard to commit to the once a week thinger to.

P.S. I think this is such a great site and look forward to hearing/critiquing some more of the works posted.

Eh!

this is a great idea. I'm in the same boat as helix and the others though. With a 56k, 2 jobs, 2 colleges, and 3 music projects to work on, hopefully I can at least do one every month. btw, I like the changes to the boards and think you're doing a great job administrating and making this place better Smiley

this should be required while reviewing each track, hehe

oh great...

because i'm as honest as they come... and for my first statement of honesty... most Christian EDM music is crap... but there are some good stuff . There's a Christian radio that plays EDM too and we get great rock tracks (might I add that Christian rock is probably the best rock in terms of composition and audio quality in my opinion), then when a dance track comes in it's like, omg what the heck *turns off radio*.

some good Christian EDM tracks(quick reviews):

Michael W Smith - Let It Rain (Tresice Mix): excellent and clear production... probably a few points off for the lack of quality in the vocals (probably too much reverb), but still a great dancefloor number.

DJ Light - Cyberia: okay considering all trance, this is pretty generic, run of the mill, derivative late 90s sounding trance, but considering Christian trance, it's about time there's some good trance out there.

Brian Youngblood - Breathe: nice cover of the worship classic, however I missed the fact that the whole song wasn't played out.. just bits and pieces. but the production is pretty good, although the drums could be phatter. I loved how this tune was full of surprises. sometimes it feels like the song is changing to another one.

Twilight??: dono the artist and title of this one but it was on the radio and it was really sweet. Has an Andy Moor meets Voodooampt type of feel, with vocoded vocals repeating "Twilight".

Siminz - Faith of a Child (Trecise Mix): The man does it again with another great mix. The melodies give a Coldharbor Markus Schulz type of feel.. the only draw back are the vocals... okay okay I like the idea of including a sample with the idea of becoming a child to enter the kingdom of heaven, but come on did a kid really say that? sounds like a woman trying to mimick a 2-year-old accent.

Prophetica - One Thousand Times (DJ Light Mix): man Dj Light se lo comio. amazing remix here. nuff said. it's all about the pads baby

Andy Hunter - Amazing: although technically lacking, the composition here is amazing. structure needs work.. i didn't like how when i started to get in the mood of a good part, it suddenly ended after 8 bars or less.. also the beat needs beefing up.

Avalon - Can't Live a Day (DJ Tiesto Mix): Tiesto rocked this tune, but I don't think the vocals fit the track. Sounds kind of awkward, avalon singing trance.

The last track on the 1st Nitro Praise CD from 1994: it's a hidden remix, but it's far better than most Christian house tracks today, i'll tell you that. Only complaint I have is a mastering one, but i'll say it anyway... sounds like it was recorded off a bad tape.. some high frequencies go away and come back at random times.

Noah DeSmit - I See Grace (Tresice Mix): If there were an award for best Christian EDM remixer, I'd give it to Gerwin.. even though I found the melody here to me a little too happy for my taste, this track shows trance can be fun without getting too cheesey. my only complaint here is that I'd put more reverb on the main supersaw lead, and provide tenser buildups... and more percussion to make it more danceable.
