Upgrading RAM

Ok, so i'm upgrading from 1GB to 2GB RAM on my laptop. Curently i have two 512MB DDR PC2700 333Mhz modules.
PNY do 1GB PC3200 DDR which is compatible with PC2700, but i saw they also do 1GB dual channel RAM too, PC2-5300 DIMM DDR2 667MHz. So two questions: whats the difference? is it compatible with PC2700?
Any advice ppl?

DDR2 supports a faster transfer rate and dual channel allows it to write & read from the RAM at the same time. Unfortunately DDR2 is not compatible with DDR motherboards.
P.S. What are you doing with your old ram??

Um... does your laptop support DDR2? I thought you had to have a compatible mobo to do that.

yeah, one thing you NEED to do is find out what EXACTLY your mobo supports. I managed to get an Asus mobo that needed a very specific kind of RAM and anything else could have fried my board(or, maybe it just would have fried the ram, or nothing at all)...
haha, anyway, do your research before you dip in.
