I guess it all depends on the "goal" of the party.  Is it to "clearly present the gospel" or is it to build relationships with people with the intention of speaking Jesus - very personally - into their life?

I think both can be right.  I know that 24-7 doesn't really care if it failed at coming off as an Outreach, because relationship is valued very high within the movement ... not at the cost of evangelism, but as a crucial part of it.

I think your still missing what I'm saying Wink

What I'm saying doesn't have to do with the purpose at all. It has everything with communicating that the event is run by people who are "different"... almost "alien" as opposed to the average promoter. If they don't see a difference in our lives, then maybe we aren't really reflecting Jesus' life.

^I think both sides are important as equal...sometimes it's better to tell it at once...but the BEST way (how I C it)...is to show and talk about Christ in a life style...not just pushing gospel down in ppl throat...but showing friendship...then talking about Jesus now and then (not showing faith just thru acts...but also thru words)...not just throwing it up...straight at U face...
I wouldn't B intrested about Christ who is not a choice but, just pushing down on U throat...choice:"believe in Christ or believe in Christ"...no,if you don't believe I would still B a friend...and faith based living Christian... Smiley

And i think a lot of the difference is in people's hearts and attitudes.
^I've noticed that...some old PPL awould B down with DJ lead worship...and Christian techno music...and even some young ppl are against it...it depends person... smiley22

focussed on Jesus and glorifying only Him, then it becomes a Christian event
^WORD!

So now the next question is how do we get everyone's heart and attitude focussed on God?
^THAT'S REALLY GOOD QUESTION... Lips Sealed
Answer is simple (atleast to me)...it depends person again...and them focus...if U R Christ centered...it just happens...but if U R not Christ centered...then I C Christ has to do just job in U...nobody can make U Christ centered...Xcept Holy Spirit... Lips Sealed ...but still...it would B cool to C everybody at Christian parties...'coz if Holy Ghost is there...he would show Christ...so ppl could find Christ thru parties...and find relationship to Him... Smiley ...so EVERY CHRISTIAN PARTY WHICH IS CHRIST CENTERED IS GOOD! Cool

But for this change to really happen we need by God's grace for His Holy Spirit to move within the life of the non-Christian. Thats where prayer comes into it... cover an event in prayer (before, during and after) and hearts and attitudes could change.
^TOTALLY... Lips Sealed

^but that is JUST THE BEST THING...if it is sodoma and gomoraISH...then we should B there and try to save ppl...

We preach Christ crucified, to the Jews a stumbling block and to the Greeks foolishness, but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.

Just to clarify a couple of points...

24-7 Ibiza have never actually put on any events.  Back in 2002 we did do a few nights at cafe mambo but that was a cafe mambo event that we were invited to play at rather than putting on the event.

Our opening line with people is usually something like "Hi, we are from 24-7 Ibiza, a Christian charity, a we wondered if you had a anything we could pray for", which usually opens up amazing conversations.  This summer alone we have prayer request cards filled in from over 1200 non Christians.  So it's safe to say that people know what we represent.

As for my personal thoughts on putting on events though, to try and promote a night as a Christian event would not be how we would do it.  We would most likely put on a top quality event to the best of our ability, but include a chill out zone where people could go and chat and hear themselves, hand out cards for people to fill in prayer requests and give out our small 24-7 Ibiza cards (they just say what we are about etc.) on as people left.  What makes an event Christian?  By putting things on flyers like it's a Christian event you make people feel excluded.  By promoting a night and them coming and seeing what you offer, people will actually come.  We do hope to get into the clubs more next year and have been invited by a couple.  Hopefully I will be able to speak from experience in a years time.

That's a very short explanation but hopefully you get where I am coming from.  I am very passionate about being Christ to the community of San Antonio, Ibiza, that I am a part of.  So far we have seen God do more in the last 12 months than I ever expected in the next 10 years.  As Christians that love electronic music we need to be Jesus to the communitys that we are in, stop worrying about how to do it, what it should look like, do we play Christian / Secular music, and just start being kind to people, offering to pray for people, being a light in a dark place.

Anyway....  I easily go into rants.  If you want the full story you will have to wait for my book "What's so amazing about bass".  Due sometime in the next 6 years.

I noticed the other blog link only goes to one story.  This is for the main blog site.  It is full of stories from the 50 or so people that visited Ibiza as part of 2 week mission teams this summer.
