Which HS did she go to?

I dunno and now's not a good time to ask either Wink

Hahahah...we don't get along politically then dave....

Um... you haven't noticed that already yet? That post you snapped at the other day proved that we wouldn't Smiley

Even after all this time, I'm still 110% behind the Iraq War for example and pushing for the Fair Tax Wink BTW, did you notice that they recently hauled 550 tons of yellow cake out of Iraq? Guess Bush's 16 words were true and a certain ambassador and his wife were liars after all huh? Wink

I like most of the politics here... only a couple things i don't like.

yeah... I have this thing where I like for my governor to be the one that was actually voted in instead of the one who stole the election. Smiley

I take it you wouldn't attend hempfest?

Nope.

But seriously... I love Seattle. I love the weather, the location, your brother's radio station... pretty much everything outside of the politics Wink

Sometimes I can be a nUrD, but not really. I would go out, but I dont know where to go, and I dont know think going to a secular club or rave would be best unless there was a Christian DJ gonna drop some phat beats too. I wanna be a light in a dark place, but at the same time, I wanna make sure I do the right thing. Yes I miss the good ol days, how much I miss them, excluding the bad that came with it of course. Another reason why I wont go kause as u all know I am single, its been really a  police for me lately. Keeping myself busy is something apparently I am not so good with anymore. Um yes I have been to maybe 5 Raves, if I am not mistaken, maybe 4, I dont really remember. I remember some of the names, lets see, hmmm. I know one was called [Something Happ-E], the others was NRG that was ugh November 21 1999 & the first Rave of 2000 Jan 1, it was thrown by Neo Sapiens, excellent event, mainly Tranz and Ambient, Hardcore in the other room, but everyone was in the Tranz room it was in Downtown L.A. My last Rave was not really a Rave it was all Psytranz from Israel by MFG, Passenger [Guy from MFG's solo DJ alias] Barracuda, and Christian from Sixth Sense records those guys were from L.A. I think. My mom and some of my friends have pix of me when I used to be all candied all out, and when I had all my piercings, yep I had 12 of them. Neo Sapiens still do their thing, I have a friend who promotes them, I got invited but never went. I feel confused, thats prolly why I been feeling grumpy, withdrawal maybe? So pardon my grumpiness, I havent been feeling like myself lately.

Watch out Dave, that yellowcake went to Canada. You don't know what our social agenda is with that.

If you are truly looking for that all night crowd, move to Eastern Europe or South America.

Absolutely. Riga (capitol of Latvia) is bumping, most of Brazil is bumping. Poland and other Baltic states have recently discovered they can throw massive parties, and they're loving it.

What are the statisics on growth in the EDM scene?  That question is probably to broad. It seems to me that EDM is supported mainly by bedroom DJ's who still love it.  I keep seeing all these old tracks coming back. Dave's favorite Greece 2000.  I know all music does that to some extent but I think that the EDM market really targets the bedroom DJ.

I know in a lot of the surrounding cities (Indianapolis, Louisville, Cincinati, & St. Louis) it's slim to none when it comes to an all EDM club.  Most DJ's have a night going in a small room that the promoter just wants to try something different with and they have like 15 ppl. with a few of those just trying to find a bathroom that isn't crowded.

I love EDM.  I usually just try to squeeze it in where I can while I'm really getting paid to play either hip hop or rock.  Just the facts.  There are many hip hop tracks out now that are housey or have electro influences but this isn't a resurgance of EDM.  It is hip hop using it to change up a bit.

By gosh I'll have a Rave night at the nursing home I'm staying at when I'm 95!!  We'll sneak into the cafeteria and baracade the doors!!  And we'll eat yellow cake in honor of George W. Bush cuz he's the man!  (I'm with you on that Dave!)

And I wanted to put an emoticon there but as Joel pointed out I think we have reached our limit on this thread.  For it still to be deemed tasty that is...

Shoot... I trust the Canadians. So far I've only seen them screw with each other and not in the genocidal way of Mr. Saddam Hussian. I mean, you don't have 88,000 kurd bodies in mass graves up north from chemical weapon attacks against your own people Wink

Yeah, I use the term "our" very liberally.

My own social agenda breaks the content rules for this site, know what I mean... he he, oh yeah.

I'm back.....Much to your delight or displeasure...

I shall share my Rave Odyssey with you..

It TECHNICALLY all started back in 1994 for me....The US had a bold,  young president named Bill Clinton....A Paralympic Archer lit the cauldron in Barcelona....Alberto Tomba of Italy was the darling of the Skiing world....."The Sign" by Ace of Base was on the Billboard Hot 100.......Kevin Neely discovered electronic music.

Yes,  as rudimentary as it may be,  I discovered EDM back in 1994 via Ace of Base,  Aqua,  Judy Cheeks,  Crystal Waters,  Culture Beat,  etc.  Those were my roots.  I bought Jock Jams compilations and various other albums as I could,  on cassette of course,  and my love for electronic music grew.  As the local A/V geek at my high school,  it was my sworn duty to be as uncool as possible.  Unfortunately,  in my pursuit of uncoolness,  i had mistakenly become cool;  I was listening to trendy music.  In my desire to be even more uncool,  I saved my nickles and dimes to buy a set of Gemini turntables and an Optimus mixer.  My first record came from crate diving at Charlemagne Records here in the 'Ham;  "Reach" by Judy Cheeks,  1996 Positiva Records.  I still have that record.  It's hanging on my wall in a place of honor.  After all,  it's important to not forget one's roots.

As time passed,  my tastes moved from the poppy sounds of groups like Technotronic and Captain Jack to people like Paul Van Dyk and Fatboy Slim.  I had moved from being a child in the music to being a youth in the music.  My tastes were now more varied,  but I still craved a poppier sound to the music.  By now,  I'd already begun to sneak into shows,  and was actually playing quite a few events as well.  I spent more time learning about electronic music,  and how to make it.  I began to really understand mixins,  breakdowns,  runs,  and drops.  I needed more though...The music needed to express what i was feeling,  which was your usual teenage angst,  slowly turning into young adulthood unsureness.

I took another step forward in music....I started using it as a form of self expression.  Lots of things were going wrong in my life,  so my music reflected my struggle against myself.  I got into Hard House/NuNRG,  playing hard,  dark and fast.  This is where I had my most success,  because I caught onto this before it really blew up.  I was playing lots of shows to lots of people.  Something still felt hollow however.  I still had some growing up to do.

I took time away to take care of my father,  who was dying of cancer.  Like any other significant life changing event,  I came back to being active with electronic music under a different mindset.  No longer did I need what I considered to be fast,  childish beats with instantly gratifying breakdowns.  Sure,  I moved from Hard House to Trance for a while, but I never really felt home there.  It wasn't until I started playing Prog House and Electro that I felt complete.  That was the first time in years where I felt like I was where I needed to be.

I continue to grow,  even as recently as the Aesias Finale project.  It's allowed me to expand my musical horizons even further while working with a dear friend.  It's also allowed me to make other friends and open doors,  simply because I am now comfortable being outside my comfort zone.

What's the point of this post?  Even as I continue to grow and learn,  I try to make it a point to search out new styles and sounds.  I continue to attend events that I wouldn't have in the past.  It's all a part of advancing as a person.  I try not to let preconceived notions of what something is determine my present actions.  After all,  I'm almost 28 years old now.....Do I want my premonitions as a 17 year old influencing my tastes today?  Of course not!

You have two choices;  you can either live in the past and lament it's loss,  or you can wake up in the morning with a fresh attitude and decide to expand your horizons a bit.  it's your call.

I can agree with Kevin's last few words.  The whole thing really started as self expression and people trying new things.  I think overtime I like watching artists evolve and keep trying new things, I do it myself, and its possibly one of the reasons I am drawn to edm.  You just can get out and get expressive in so many ways, and it evolves around people and technology, oh and there is sometimes a dancefloor...
