So after these years of abandoning my tastyfresh dj brethren, I'm happy to say I've returned.
As some may know I was a pro-audio sales guy @ guitar center; that in itself kind of killed the fun of dj stuff after  a while. But anyways, this past weekend i spun at my friends' wedding after months of not touching the decks. And I have to say I honestly miss spinning, and i miss you guys.
So here's how it went...
A few weeks ago Jenn asked me if i could spin at her wedding, her and Andy being good friends of mine so I agreed as a gift. Then a week after agreeing Andy asked me if I could be a groomsman b/c of work issues or something with the other. I agreed, forgetting about the DJ promise. so a week before the gig I couldn't get a hold of my other friend to see if i can borrow his pa. He did call back Wednesday night telling me he had blown the horns by pushing the amp too hard. Uggg!! It made me wish i did buy a pa of my own when i worked at GC! However, I did get in touch with a friend at church, he also offered to let me borrow the SRM450s. I thought to myself, "srm450s? isn't that a little overkill for a small room, and 50-75 people?" But I quickly agreed. So after picking them up and showing up for the recital practice, Andy and Jenn showed me the room they were setting up in. Wow! it wasn't small like Jenn said! It was inside a gym! with seating for about 200-350 people! Wow, I'm so happy i was able to get the mackies, because this is about the right size for them!
I still had no clue what to do about music because neither of the couple provided me with what music they wanted or a schedule of events. That was tough. She kept telling me to do whatever i wanted and not to worry. So I did what i wanted! brought both 1200s, KP3, Traktor Scratch, and filled my crate w/ every type of jazz and classic must have party records from my collection. Also brought a Lawerence Welk record as a threat to Jenn for not giving me any help! I also butchered together a playlist of "Herbie Hancock's 60s bluenote session" on Itunes, for people to listen at the reception dinner thing. During that time, i didn't have a wireless b/c mine was broken so i ended up running back and forth from the reception table to the dj booth to kill the music for the toast and cake cutting. After the pleasentries, I played out the last jazz song, after which i cued up the last minute itunes download for the Alison Krauss song the bride and groom wanted. Sweet! the first dance went well, Andy then convinced Jenn to dance w/ her dad; After which I cued up my origional pressing of Nat King Cole's Unforgettable. I've never seen her in tears like that! After those dances, I can see the teens wanted something fun, so Electric Boogie was in order. Jenn's mom immediately yelled at the top of her lungs at me to shut it off! So i turned it down a little,  then a nice old gentleman told me not to listen to her b/c she's a little cranky; So i cranked the volume... Good times; Jenn's mom hates me.
All in all, the night went very well considering i felt like a headless chicken!

Even with all of the stress last weekend, it still was really fun. I guess i have a few potential "clients" that want me to dj at their events because of this wedding. Now i'm debating if i should buy a pair of qsc hpr122i or pass.
Oh yeah, for a serato fanboy, i sure loved Traktor Scratch that night! The Audio8dj interface worked seamlessly with both TS and itunes running at the same time! No dropouts or glitches in the many hours it was on!
Only one regret, i should of recorded the set. Jenn just asked me if i could burn the music so she could keep as a memory. If i would of thought of it i would of connected my mixer's line out back into the audio8 for recording... well... that's 20/20 hindsight.  Kiss

I can't remember if I told you, I finally went with Traktor Scratch.  After christmas, GC had like 10-20% off the order if you bought it between this time after thanksgiving.  So they still had the crossgrades on their site, so called ordered it, got the deal and final cost was like $330.  Then weeks after NI ran a free upgrade to Traktor 3.3 if you bought Scratch, so got that too.  Couldn't pass it up and have been happy since.

you can record internally in Traktor, either with a wave recorder of a mix recorder.

I remember that. I was going to offer you a really good price partially because of a sales contest. That month GC had a sales contest on selling traktor scratch. I had the most sales in the region so i won both traktor scratch and Traktor 3. If i had "A" level certification i would of also won Komplete.
