I still love VINYL!

WWW
« on: July 01, 2008, 10:07:50 PM »

I am realizing that I have trouble asking for the things I really need. Rather than get people to help or get assistance I try to handle it on my own or figure it out myself.

For instance, I need help seeing some things I can do other than djing. Maybe some hidden talents or things that if I tried, got some training or education or worked on I could be good at. So I need others, a life coach, counselor, friends, etc to help me see what I cant seem to figure out on my own.

If anyone can relate to a "holding pattern" where you are an airplane and you can't get the clearance (or what seems to be) to take off. I have not been the best at follow through and I have disappointed many people..friends, my kids, myself and someof you on the board.

I also have been divorced 10 years and frankly I am fine being single but I still have a lonely part and I honestly think a good woman would be a blessing. So thats my 2 cents.

God is doing something for me to even bring this up. So that will give you somethingto pray about. And feel free to comment.

yeah, man, I can relate.  I got a degree, got out of school and still at my present work place and its been five years.  I have began to realize the error in my thoughts and as well gonna start to make some changes.  I've been known to start something and never finish it, on some things.  Yeah, I can live with singleness, but small part still feels lonely.

will keep ya in prayer bro.

Do you have a Pastor or a spiritual father?  Someone who you trust enough that you hide nothing from...and I mean NO THING!  Someone who will encourage you, hold you to your word, and pour their life into yours?  We may have ten thousand teachers, but not many fathers.  Most people do not have this type of relationship with anyone.  But we all need it.

Two people drift in a lifeboat. One says, "I see an island. Our best chance is to go ashore, build a shelter, and await rescue." The others says, "No, we must go farther out to sea and hope to find the shipping lanes." Unable to agree, the two fight, the lifeboat capsizes, and they drown.

Pray about it and our Father in heaven will lead you.  It is the son that follows the father not the other way around.  So pursue with His leading.  The leaders in our network of churches have a saying, " Our ceiling is your floor".  This is much more than just frothy talk.  They really mean it.  It is so cool.  If you want you can PM me about this and I can share some experiences and insight.

You need to so some talent/spiritual gift tests.

http://48days.com/ <-- they have a personality test you can take. It costs some cash, but it's worth the money. One thing I like about it is that it matches you up with historical and biblical (yeah, I know) people who have similar personality types.

Melissa and I did that. It may not have given us a LOT of insight, but it did confirm what we already new.

http://www.48days.com/products/personalityreport.php <-- the test info.

He's also got a great book out called 48 Days to the Job You Love. You might want to look at that.

If you're a Dave Ramsey listener, you should already know about this book.

As far as spiritual gifts go... There are a TON of tests out there. I don't know which ones are the most accurate though. Here's one though: http://www.spiritualgiftstest.com And here's another: http://www.churchgrowth.org/cgi-cg/gifts.cgi?intro=1

yeah... the neat thing about spiritual gifts is that over time, they seem to change. Over 10 years ago, teaching used to be really strong for me. Today, it's one of my weaker ones where Administration & Sheperd/pastor are my highest. I think a lot of that has to do with running this site though.
