Well it's like being asked to spin in a gay club. What do you do? You can either go spin a gospel house set and see what happens, or risk spinning songs about "love" in an attempt to deliver a message about salvation and have it mistranslated as a song about homosexual love.
Unless you have the balls to stand up for what you believe in an appropriate way when people come talk to you after the set.
Jesus went to a wedding and turned water into wine. The choice wine, I might add. I'm sure that people got drunk off that wine. Does that make Jesus a sin-condoner? Or does it make him a person who says: "Look at what miracles God can perform?"
So how do we "turn water into wine" at a gay club or pride parade without A)
directly
condoning sin, and without B) hating on the homosexuals themselves?
I'd even argue that it's pointless to hate on their sin too. Because of "gay pride", taking the angle of pointing out their sin isn't really going to get you anything but a closed door. Rather, the "all have sinned and fallen short" angle is way more appropriate, because you aren't singling out their "gay sin" over your own "straight sin". Besides, the gospel is more about salvation and grace than sin. Sin is the catalyst, but salvation is the reaction and the springboard into true life.
You're awesome, Rish. It's been toooo long my brutha

Davo,
If I'm part of "everyone" doing their "evil gay" rants that you're addressing your post to, please let me know. I imagine it's probably safe to assume so, but I'd rather know for sure. Also, if I am one of those you're addressing, could you do me a favor please, and I mean this in all sincerity, not sarcastically.
Not you.

True,BUT do you think Jesus knew what they were going to do with that wine? He sure did.
Remember the guy saying, "whoa! you saved the best wine for last! usually we get the watered down crap by this time of the party" (heheh..obviously the davo paraphrased version).
I think it's extremely important we analyze that first miracle (and the entire Bible)
in context
, and not just put our spin on it to fit our worldview.

I suppose my argument is this. He knew they would get drunk on it when he made it. Same principle behind God making hemp knowing people would smoke weed, or God making sex knowing people would make pornography out of it. I like metaphors.
Especially colorful ones!

Amen! I'm trying to write a piece on this right now. Maybe I'll flip it to you when I'm nearing completion.

Capitalist pride? You can't be serious...

Cool. Good to know. That was so not what I was trying to say.

i always had the impression that was towards revealing who he was more so than having to make wine.

Probably was, but he was still reluctant to do it and we keep using this passage for so many arguments that it maybe shouldn't be used for. The lesson probably isn't so much in the miracle, but the revelation of who Jesus was, honoring your parents even when you don't agree with them, and so on.

I know 2 dj's who are both Christian and struggle with homosexuality.
One was at the point his marriage almost dissolved. He went through the Healing Streams ministry and has totally recovered & understands the roots of his bent towards this. An absent father.
The other dj is still struggling with this today. I still talk to him as a bro in Christ. His bent is due to a distant and overly controlling father. He dreams of one day changing and even marrying. He still has not won this and more pain and hard work are going tho bring him to victory.

Yeah, like trying to say Jesus was reluctant to create the wine when the scripture doesn't say that, Dave.
Where do you get he was reluctant from if you just agreed with Noah that Jesus was talking about him revealing himself as the Son of God. That scripture you quoted has nothing to do with him being reluctant.
If Jesus didn't want to make the wine, he wouldn't have done it.
...and i suppose I'LL be the one accused of debating spiritual things....

I am coming into this convo very late and will readily admit I didn't read every page but I did read about half.
For me (and my lame attempt to keep this on topic) it comes down to being a light. Light works best where there is darkness. I have the light of Jesus in me and I want to share that. Sometimes I share it with others who have the same light and together we are a stronger light. But sometimes I share it with those who have no light.
The key is knowing where your line is...how dark is too dark to where you might be overcame.
Could I DJ a gay pride parade? Honestly I dunno. Could I go to a rave and hang out and just love on people? Yes, I have. Could I be friends with someone who is gay? Yes.
Just because I could do something doesn't mean it is right for everyone and just because you could do something I couldn't doesn't mean it is wrong.
JTx doesn't like beatports ads for gay pride....and it doesn't bother another person.
If you don't like it unsubcribe.
