I think this was a good discussion.  There were only a few sketchy moments but on the whole everyone stayed civilised.  I learned a lot from and about some fellow TFers.

Wow... Chris. You don't want to discuss, don't discuss. Same goes for Oneel... you guys don't care? So don't care.

I think this was a good discussion.

I also thought it was an enjoyable and fascinating conversation.

Why does everything have to become a big hairy deal around here?

Because one questions prompts another question with prompts another question. It's called conversation. Welcome Smiley
No, because we are a bunch of big babies who want to sound important and spiritual. We all need to learn to grow up let stupid stuff go.

I love you, Chris, but I have to say that I'm amused by the irony here.

As Taktek said, there were a few sketchy moments, but the way I see it, a half dozen or more people (even those with strongly opposing views) successfully expressed their views on and debated a rather "hot button" issue and remained respectful of one another. How often does that occur around here?

Then, as the last post on page 8, you (who haven't participated in the discussion) step in with the name calling and accusations of immaturity.

You're welcome to disagree with those that participated in the discussion (this thread has been all about differing views), but please do so with the attitude of respect and civility that was present in the majority of this thread.

i wasn't trying to mock.  i thought it was a funny picture.

i openly apologize to rodimus if he took it as a slanderous gesture.  i thought it humorously displayed two extremes which parallels to how rodimus and i are on these forums.

Sorry guys. It's not that I didn't want to discuss. At the time I posted that, I was dealing with a lot on my heart that I was not prepared for and God was about to drop a bomb on me. I was actually trying to be tongue-in-cheek funny, while trying to get the conversation to end. Honestly, it was a good discussion. It's just that the whole conversation eventually became obvious the no-one was gonna win, so I was hoping to get people to just drop it before things got worse. My humor attempt didn't go through very well.

Sorry I mis-interpretted. I guess I came to the conclusion I did because folks have made posts like that before and not meant them as humorous. Your only other post in the thread was "This thread is stressing me out." (which sounded serious), and a couple of other people had popped in and out, seeming rather serious. So, I took your second post as serious as well.

And the thing is that noone needed to win the thread. It wasn't my intent to win converts to my side. I just answered Joel's question about Shiloh (with an answer he wasn't expecting, it would seem), then tried to present and clarify the reasons behind the answer that I gave.

I think it's been a good discussion. As I believe I said much earlier in the thread, I like discussing things because it helps me solidify what I believe and why and also helps me learn better to relate in a Christlike manner to other Christians of differing beliefs and understand more about why they believe what they do.

To me, that was the benefit and point of the thread. Not to have a winner.

Well so much for sarcastic humour....  Grin

On Topic:
Is anyone else bothered by all the gay pride stuff that Beatport is listing in their e-mail notices now?

nah....

Quote from:  JT X
I've gotten two of these e-mails, where they were bragging about their float in a gay pride parade, and now they're "presenting" a "soundtrack to gay pride". I didn't realize that by opening an account there, that I would be subjected to them promoting such a self-destructive and sinful lifestyle. Is anyone, particularly those who are selling music there, bothered by this?

nah....

I don't really care to be honest. I like to buy good music and if some producer or DJ wants to be part of the gay pride, that's not a problem to me. For me, it doesn't make their music less or more interesting.

I vote for a TF float during the next gay pride!!  Cool

Didn't know Shiloh played in a gay-pride parade, but if they did, yeah, it bothers me.

wow did not know that. but then again I never really thought those guys were Christian anyway REGARDLESS OF WHAT EVERYONE ON THIS BOARD SAYS.

Seriously dude, if you had met Shiloh even once, you would never say that.

I could understand if (like GLM) you thought they made a bad choice.

Doubting their salvation though, that's just wrong.

They are true brothers in the Lord, and they have blessed me so much with their music, their friendship, and their wisdom.

Ah well, why bother knowing the people you judge?

Shoot first, ask questions later.

-is playing at DEMF in detroit sinful because you're promoting a "raver/E-tard" lifestyle?

-how about playing in any given club or bar in country? aren't you promoting drunken & licentious behavior?

if you are 100% against playing a gay pride fest , you should be just as strongly against playing in a bar or at a party

Great comparison!

Spinning at the Gay Pride parade really is like spinning at any secular club or event.

It's a tough choice to decide whether you'll only be promoting/encouraging sin, or if you really can impact people for Jesus.

I think, as someone pointed out, it's not for everyone.

To some people the temptation is too strong.

For others, they can shine their light in the darkest of places.
