wow. is that different from the $599 Traktor?
$599 deal is "Traktor Scratch" It is a modified interface of "Traktor DJ Studio" that I linked to. Traktor Scratch comes with the software, Audio 8 DJ, control vinyl, control cds, software, multicore cables and carrying bag. Yes, Traktor DJ Studio is just the software, but you already have a controller and don't know about a external interface. Just thought I would mention this site to you since the software is usually 150 - 200 dollars. Plus since the 3.3 upgrade, you can get the vinyl/cd control later on when you can afford it since now DJ studio can use it as well.

i honestly dont know if that stuff has improved any or not, i know in the past i've tried some of the other software (demos pcdj i do remember trying) and thought it was junk at the time, but a lot of times in newer versions they will make a lot of imrovements. as for the other post, i guess i missed it, my bad....
there is one i've used a demo of (dssdj) may not be bad with a controller, but it's really basic.
are you wanting to settle for what you can afford for now and upgrade later, or just save up and get the good stuff right away? (not that you're spending much more, 100 compared to like 50 to me is not much more saving.)

as from what I've seen from these type of setups, I would only get either Traktor 3.3 or Serato Scratch Live. If you want the whole vinyl control setup now and cheap, possibly M-Audio Torq.

i've got a buddy who swears by torq, havent heard one of his mixes on it yet, all he's using is the midi controller (whatever the cheap one is that they have). there are a lot of options out there, whatever you wanna do chris. i have serato, swear by it, but i'm even thinking about going to something else that i can use a portable controller with, just because like now when i'm gone, i cant lug around my decks and a mixer, just a simple controller would be perfect for what i need right now, which is basically just something to keep me in practice. looking at my options, and that hercules thing looks pretty cool, there's like 3 versions of it, some come with software for like 150 bucks, just having dreams for the future for myself.
the only advice i can give you chris is get something you know you're gonna like, from what i've seen all the dj software is a little different they all have their little quirks.

Let me set something straight. I AM PLANNING ON BUYING TRAKTOR. There is no need to further discuss "options". I thought I made it clear a few posts back that I was gonna go with Traktor. Dunamis' $100 link he showed me is perfect for what I am looking for. That is what I am getting. And surprise, no need to save up for it. I have that in the bank right now.

I could say, Traktor can, controller or vinyl control, but have you seen where the VCI-300 now comes with Serato? I think its a cut down version, but probably works with your version.

yea, i checked on some controllers that work with serato, i think in future versions they'll continue to update which ones work. i'm not even home right now and wont be till like thanksgiving, so i'm just trying to find something decent for now to tide me over without spending any cash (demos at least keep me in practice).

okay chris, you're right, traktor rules. just used a demo and even using my crappy computer and just the keyboard i put together a couple solid mixes, i'm sure it would be better to have a controller, but even with the keyboard i could keep it going well.
guess i know what my next purchase and setup adjustment might be.....
