Hi All

I was sitting in church this morning, and as usual i was listening to the band, and imagining lots of electronic instruments beefing up the worship

anyway, i've spent the evening looking around the web at some electronic worship, and as usual, 99% of christian music is pants when compared to the secual scene

most of the stuff i heard sounds like euro pop, so i want to try and produce some quality remixes of good christian worship

I've got a pretty good home studio, and enough hardware to produce something half decent.

So what i need is maybe some advice, some accapella worship vocals, and as much info as i can to get me started

I'm sure there are many people who have tried to re mix vocal worship tracks?!?
thanks in advance

yeah, what you want to do has been done over and over again since 1992. Some favor the idea as long as the quality level matches today's standards, while oddly some Christians here seem to hate the idea of worship remixes. I have never understood their reasoning.

I am sure most of what you found in your search was either very old or from some current producers who think they have a good product but are blinded by their own desire to do this that they can't see their stuff is really bad. We've had these people pop their heads in here at TF in the past and was disappointed by our lack of support for their poorly produced projects.

I think for the most part, the members of this site have heard so many people try to do this, but have done it so poorly that we have given up on it. I, personally, would love to see a resurgence of quality worship remixes.

You will find your best advice and feedback by asking your questions in the producers section of these forums. This section is for general Dance Culture discussions, the other is specifically for production related discussions.

Oh and welcome to Tastyfresh! My name is Chris I have been hanging round these parts since the beginning in 1996.

And click here for a mix of some of my favorite electronic worship tunes (maybe it'll give you some inspiration--I think they are all very well produced tracks).

I, too, would love to do electronic worship music.  But I'm just now beginning to learn how to produce anything at all, so I think I'm a long ways from being able to put out anything close to the quality I think worship music should have, so I'm just trying to hone my skills for now.

I feel the same way Chris and Reborn does, except my production skills are yet to be satisfactory as well. I can see myself already producing these tracks in my head, I just either lack better vst's or programs to get a specific sound I want to make for it.
Either way, you came to the right place to find out more about Christian EDM. My name is Eric aka Ecliptik, Currently playing Drum N Bass... I also want to dab into House! for a while I never saw myself doing any, now I want to... no, no peer pressure  laugh

Welcome quade,

Are there any decent singers at your church which you could use as you wont find accapella's very easily.

It's quite tough to get a song that everyone is meant to sing along too not to sound cheesy, writing original worship material would sound less so. It's mainly because peopleare already used to hearing the song inanothercontext/style.

If it's b what you want to do then go for it produce thye backing tracks and and pray for a singer.

Go for it mang !!!

Let us know when you have something in the pipeline. I love a good worship remix, my favorite being "Can't Live A Day" (Avalon) remixed by Tiesto. It can be done and it can be done well.

Praying!

Contact me if you need a vocal or two  Wink

I personally am one of the ones more on the side of not enjoying Worship remixes.  As it is I have difficulty enjoying worship music in church in its original form so that would explain it a bit.

If you figure you could record half decent vocals with your setup, just do it at home.  Get yourself a decent mic, a stand and one of those great little isolator screens that attach to your mic stand.  they look like a music stand sort of but they form a sort of half circle around your mic.  then put your vocalist in a corner somewhere and giver.

Or just write something yourself man.  problem with most worship songs is many don't work well for the dance style of chord progression, especially if there's the standard key change or odd bassline progression, that makes it extremely difficult to put to dance music.

So, what i would do in that situation is find some worship songs you really like, take a short phrase that hits you the hardest from the track and use that as your hook in a basic dance tune.  kind of rewrite it, make your own bassline and use the samples as hooks or meat for your track.   Then you might be able to make it sound half decent  imho.   I've done that a lot with other tracks i enjoy, like the Final Countdown and the Airwolf theme ;-)

Thanks Guys

Sorry for the delay, i thought i'd subscribed to notifications on this thread, and have just checked randomly.

You've all got very valid points, especially about chord progression in modern worship.
I do know one amazing singer, she's not in my church, so i'll need to chat to her.

Huge gap in worship for the right styles.
I think a small progression to electronic will work well, I'm not going to go crazy, but it would be good for all us involved to keep encouraging each other on this somehow?
