It's me again,
Having trouble with a midi keyboard and getting Traktor 3 software to talk to each other.
Traktor 3 does see the midi cable I am using in the setup menu. So I select it. The trouble is when I pick a function that I want one of the keys on the midi keyboard to do for example the "play" function, when I click on "Learn" and press the key I want "play" on the midi keyboard, Traktor does not recognize me hitting a key. My midi cable is working because I have a indicator that information is being sent to the PC. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks in advanced !!  Cool

Under the midi setup, are you SURE that you have told traktor which midi inputs to listen for? Are they the right ones?

Yes. There is a setting called "omni" according to the user manual it says to set the software to this so there is no guess work. When set on this, Tractor looks at all the inputs.

tactek: naw... it's just easier to use a USB controller.... which Searto does have correct? You just wanted to jab back huh? Wink

t4cm: what controller are you using? Are you sure that it's set to receive midi on the omni channel? Once we figure this out, you'll be good.

OMNI is the channel.

You still need to go to Midi Interfaces and tell traktor to use your midi interface or USB Midi controller.

Page 135 of the Traktor 3.3 manual:

14.3.3 Activate your device
After you have installed the drivers for your MIDI device, the interface will appear within the MIDI section of the Preferences. You must activate the device before you can assign any parameters.

Open TRAKTOR “Preferences” > “Hotkey & MIDI Setup” > “MIDI Interfaces”. Your MIDI device should be displayed.

Under the Active column, double-click the field next to the device name. This puts an X in the Active box, making the MIDI interface active.

Thank you for the info. When I did this Traktor did see my midi cable so I double clicked it, it put an "X" in the box. Then I went on to assign some functions to my midi device. I clicked on "ADD", selected a function (example Loop in/out) then I clicked on "Learn" pressed the key on my midi controller and...... nothing. Traktor did not see it. The midi device I am using is just a midi capable Yamaha keyboard. I know it works becuase I was using it with Reasons (which I no longer am using). I hope this explains it enough for everyone. Thanks for helping. I can not wait to solve this issue. It sounds so simple, I have to be missing something stupid !!!

Which Yammie is it? Are we talking like a consumer/el-cheapo one or something a bit more... professional?

Well I confess it is a older mid road consumer one. I just want something that has midi control so I am able to control different functions instead of using the mouse or computer keyboard keys. (this keyboard was given to our fam) If you say dis theYammie and just use computer keyboard keys, I may do so.  Do you think using the comp keyboard would be funtional enough to use live and do things on the fly?

I think you should save up $250 and buy yourself either a Numark Total Control or a Novation Remote Zero SL. You need a midi controller. To do this right, you need knobs and sliders.

Again though... which Yammie is it?

Yeah, definitely need something with knobs & sliders. I have a M-Audio Oxygen8 MIDI keyboard that I found online for under 100$ and it works well with any program I use it on...except for Cubase (can't figure that one out yet)

yeah... that's not a good midi device to use for traktor. You NEED knobs and sliders. Keys and buttons are only good for triggering things, not adjusting their values. You will never be happy with that board.

What style of music are you djing? Do you plan to scratch at all?
