How do you record your set then? Back in through...?
Affirmative. My laptop's onboard prompts for mic or line level whenever I plug anything in.

Inefficient, but I guess it works.
That's my point. One day I'll be able to afford efficient (when I stop traveling). But for the last 4 years inefficient has me DJing (as opposed to not DJing).

I'm using my Dell Latitude D820's internal sound card, it's a Sigmatel device. Add to that an Edirol USB sound card, model UA-3D (I bought for 50$).
Standard cabling... I've got 2 turntables and 2 lines from the laptop, a stereo output that goes back to the laptop, and then cue/headphone out on the front (not pictured).
Traktor preferences, see the ASIO coundcard chosen, and the ASIO settings aggregating the two sound devices into a single virtual device.

Traktor preferences, see the output routing where you select the outputs, ASIO presents them named as their sound device names.

I am able to get a sound card from a company called Turtle Beach. Here is the link. Let me know if you think it will work like you have it set up. Thanks

Wow, that's tiny. I can't guarantee it's going to work, but it should work. I sometimes have to play with the ASIO4ALL settings to get it right (occasionally the audio is distorted beyond belief, and needs a couple of settings reset to return to normal). Again, we're talking budget here... so yeah, that device should work.

Cool. So all I need to do is follow how you have Tractor settings and set mine to them, and down load that ASIO4ALL? Any idea why the audio distorts every once and a while? Is it ok to contact you via email if I have questions? Thanks for all your help. Once I get a couple gigs I will be able to afford the multi output sound card. But until then I have to go cheap. Thanks for all your help brother !!! God Bless !!!

You'll need to download ASIO4ALL first. Install that, then run Traktor. Configure Traktor to use ASIO4ALL as the sound card, then use the Control Panel option in Traktor which will open the ASIO4ALL settings. (Not that ASIO4ALL has an offline and a live settings mode, the only settings that will take effect are those in live mode, and they must be accessed this way, through Traktor).
Then in the resulting config, changed to advanced mode and enable the sound devices. Then you can go back to Traktor and choose them as the routing options. If you run into trouble, PM me or email me. I know I had to play around with it a bit when I first looked into it, but it worked. One thing to bear in mind is that ASIO4ALL won't share devices, so sometimes if you've got iTunes open then your default device won't be selectable in ASIO. Make sure you've got no other software running that could be "grabbing" the audio. This is good practice in any case.

Hey,
I set everything up and it works with one problem, I can not change the Audio Latency on Traktor. The only option is 11.5ms. In your pictures you show 5.5ms. Could you please assist. Thanks !!!

well... honestly, that might be the best you get. This is why you needed a better one. But.. on
this screen in traktor
, you should be able to click on the value and choose a lower one. That's the only way you can change it as far as I know. Maybe you can adjust it some with the asio4all panel too, but if traktor won't let you drop it... you might be stuck.
