Quincy and I have been talking for the past month or so about the possibility of teaming up again for a radio show. We started on the internet back in 1999 with a show called "realifemusic" and later (after I moved to Kansas) did a new show called "The Show!". Both shows were big hits and were both different in the way they were formatted and accomplished.

 - "RLM" was a live Christian Music format with both of us in the same studio, incorporating bits where Q did his line of characters (Uncle Skimmy, Phat Monkey, etc) and I had music segments such as featured artist and The Flashback Hit.

 - "The Show!" was a prerecorded, edited, talk/humor format. With me in KS and Q in California, we called each other up and recorded our own portions of the conversation, and then put them together along with music and sound FX in the editing process. Music was more of a tool to allow us to take a break and focus on what we were to talk about next.

Both shows worked very well and we like each show equally.

Now we are at a point where we are getting serious about starting back up again, with a possible launch in July. We are just not sure if we want to do a RLM format or go back to doing "The Show!" or some happy in-between medium. The point of this post is to get a general opinion from those of you who are familiar with our shows about what you would like. More music? More talk?

Also, we are kicking around the idea of a new name. We could just go back to calling it "The Show!", but I would like to come up with something using our names. "The Chris and Quincy Show" or something using our last names.

Maybe I am looking too deep into it. I just want our new efforts to be good enough and marketable enough for syndication.

What are your thoughts?

PS you can check out every recorded program of both The Show! and realifemusic at www.jitabeat.com/theshow if you want to check out the goodness.

Remember Mike, musically, it would not be dance oriented at all. It would be Christian Top 40 type stuff: rock, rap, pop, etc.

I think the spontanius of live would have a better appeal than recorded but that comes down to both of you having the time to sit down at a set time, on the other hand if you record it live at anytime with out editing and droping in effects afterwards that could work as well. It would also benifit of not having to spend time editing and compiling it all together.

I'd guess that's a good way to say you don't like the usual christian top 40. I'm no big fan of Christian top 40.  I've been listening mostly to Trance and Metal myself.

Chris, I've heard you a few times, I think you have good sounding voice that stands out and an excellant on air personality.  If your still in good enough condition after all you've been though, I guess a talk based program with some music between might be good.  I'd say that you'd need to have prepared material on hand some of which you may be willing to sacrifice due to time, also you'd need to be fluid in transitioning between topics and know when to let topics die.  I'm sure that correct chemisity with you co host wouldn't be an issue since you've done stuff before.  I think if it's stuctured a bit more than it's going to flow better and a listener would be more likely to be able to jump into the program at any random point and get into the flow of it with in 5 minutes.  I'm no expert on radio programs but those were my general thoughs.

Thanks for the advice. Very good thoughts there. I listen to talk radio everyday on XM Satellite radio and I "get it" when it comes to knowing how long to stay on a topic and when to bail. (I gave this talk format a shot when DJ 66 and I were doing Hangin' Out. The show ultimately failed for me due to 66's ADD. It contributed to the humor at some times and honestly, other times it just pissed me off.) Quincy and I have 10 years of off/on-air experience as co-hosts. We play well off of each other. We know when we are aggravating each other or when we are helping each other. Sometimes, it makes good radio if one host is getting aggravated and the other keeps at it in good fun. It's too bad we are not in the same state, otherwise this would work out so much better. Coming up with material is usually not a big problem for us, however it would be nice to have a couple producers who can search out interesting news stories and send us the highlights along with audio / video for us to play in air.

Anyway, I really hope this gets going soon. Q is making some family decisions that will ultimately decided how soon we can start.

Cool I have ADD, sometimes, when I am not in hyper-mode. Im not too big on the top 40 stuff either, but it never stopped me from listening to the show before, so its all good. But looking forward to it. it will be coolness.

sounds great Chris. (devils advocate). You guys had several "The Show" but they always disbanded due to Quincy's schedule. So has that been worked out? Seems like you guys had a hard time getting the show on the road.  laugh

That was during a very busy time in Quincy's life. Aside from being a husband and father to 100 children, he was also preaching, coaching football and baseball, and working overtime at his job. He has now minimized his life to just being a husband and father and his work schedule is back to normal.

I think it would be cool to have a mix between The Show and Hangin Out.  I liked Hangin Out but it did lack any type of format at all so having some format like The Show with the Hangin Out laughs and humor might be a good mix.  I really liked the name The Show it was a fun name.  So my vote is more like The Show.

I'd say go for it, you and Quincy do great together.  With that in mind, I would try a Hangin Outish, The Show format.  Some talk, some music (that it being top 40 also.)  Cool
