As a DJ, is it better just to stick with the same name all the time and just DJ whatever everyone wants at the event you are playing, or have separate names for each genre you play?
And do you think it's the same for producers as well?

Trance under "Kingdom Age"
and Hardcore/Techno under "shwabang"
I have a drum n' bass and house track that I think might do pretty well.
I guess it's best to have separate names for producing when genres are that different? But some producers have changed genres over the years...
I know some producers must change their name because the other one may be under a contract with a label.
but can you just use one name all the time when you DJ?

no, I mean actual on the market releases. Have you had a single one yet?
If not... what's this about changing your name? Nobody knows you then. You're PICKING one, not changing it.
I'll tell you what I like: Adam Bomb. It's got a Junkie XL feel to it.
You better use one name all the time when you DJ otherwise how are you going to grow a following?

I've only had 3 market releases. 2 trance and 1 hardcore and I used 2 different names. Do you think that was a smart move or a mistake?
I think it's best to keep the same name too but then I think about something like the trance and drum n' bass scene... I've heard that these two groups of people usually hate each other? or what if, God forbid, I used the same name for happy hardcore and drum n' bass? But, it seems that house/techno/trance/progressive can all go together...
Which genres can overlap and which ones need to stay separate?

I think you need to ask yourself how many copies did all of those sell. If it's not very much... what mistake and what gain have you made? In other words... who is your fan base? Do you even have one?
Personally, I think you are just NOW starting to develop your persona... or who you are professionally as a musician. You need to decide who you are and what your goals are before you randomly pick a name. But... once you pick it, you need to stick with it for some time to see if it works and you shouldn't change it for every release. Only change it for side projects that you don't want your main persona to be associated with.... and then don't do too many side projects.
If you ask me though... stop the hardcore. The world doesn't need more crap
You are correct that house/techno/trance/progressive are all blending together now and that's because of Electro
You really need to determine what genre your passion really is for, what the market is like in that genre and then what your goals as a producer/dj before you choose your name.
