Hey, if you're a mac user, how do you search for your songs on your hard drive and bring them into serato/traktor or other DJ software that you use? Do you have a special program you use?
Apparently, Rapid Evolution doesn't work on the mac right now.

Pretty much the same on all computers I think. I have a file in : Music, where I have sub folders of all different labels. When I download tracks I put them in their right folders. Then I drag them into traktor. They will automatically be in the playlist folder, and then you can add them to the "current playlist" at anytime while playing etc. Lots of ways to do it , but that is one.

iTunes, specifically the Smart Playlists feature. (These update into Serato automatically when I start it up, and I think the ability of iTunes integration has become a common feature in DJ'ing software in general, but you'd have to check if the program you're using supports this.) I use the "grouping" field to mark them by the genres I spin (house, prog, breaks) and have smart playlists based on this and the "date added" field.

you know... I honestly don't care. I think it's easier for me just to dump everything in one folder and let traktor sort it out.

Really? I got it on mine. It was written in Java, so it should be cross platform.

i have 2 folders for my dj stuff. one is for everything i have from beatport/other stores and the other is for promos. i have both folders set up as music folders in traktor. when i get new stuff, i just select the entire folder in traktor, add to collection. traktor doesnt duplicate the tracks and then i sort by bpm, which lets me know which tracks need to be set up with beatgrids and commented on.

For some reason, it cannot play the files and when I drop them into Traktor, nothing happens. I thought maybe it was the file path, but when I tell it where the harddrive is, still nothing happens. I'm talking to the developer and he doesn't seem to know why it's not working...

I actually just use RE to orgnize and get the approximate pitch and bpm. Then i put them in ableton and warp them, and orgnize them by
style/artist/pitch - bpm - title
and just keep everything in ableton.
