I am looking for something on the lines of SoundForge and Cool Edit (now Adobe Audion). I could not find a download link to Adobe Soundbooth which was free. I have tried a few like wavepad and record pad and it was hard to do precise edits.

Amazing grace, how sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me.
