Anybody have any suggestions on which one to get?

Right now the website lists these:

Image

    * 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    * 2GB memory
    * 200GB hard drive1
    * Double-layer SuperDrive
    * NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT with 256MB

Ships: Within 24 hours
Free Shipping
$1,999.00
or as low as $48 a month

    * 2.5GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    * 2GB memory
    * 250GB hard drive1
    * Double-layer SuperDrive
    * NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT with 512MB

Ships: Within 24 hours
Free Shipping
$2,499.00
or as low as $59 a month

I was thinking the 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo would work good for me.  My basic remixing setup is simple with Reason 3.0 and Ableton Live 4.0 (which needs to be upgraded to 7.0) anywaz.....

Just wondering if anybody else had an inside scoop on pros/cons of these laptops.

If its just a home studio computer I would get the Macpro tower they are twice as fast twice as nice, for just a few dollars more.  If you have to have a laptop for other things any of them are good.  I have a macbook for portable apps, and a tower for the studio.

I would say save the $500 (spend it on Live 7) and get the 2.4ghz, Storage is cheep, so the extra 50g on your hard drive isn't that big a deal, and for a studio computer, the extra 256m on the video card won't do that much for you, and the performance different between a 2.4ghz and 2.5ghz is negligible, especially in the Santa Rosas.

I also agree with strobian to a point, you can get way more bang for your buck if you go with a MacPro tower, however if you commit yourself to a tower, you lock yourself out of live performance without lugging so much equipment around.
