I've been following the news of the pacemaker for a while now and it looks to be a very full-featured portable.

I would be more excited about it if the mixes you make weren't in some proprietary format Undecided that you can only save/share/edit on their website or app. Yuck! However there are outputs which means live mixing or recording saved mixes possible via playback.

For the astronomical price ($1000) that its offered at, its almost not worth the money even if you can mix with it! I'm sure their software is exceptional but exporting your mixes to mp3 is not going to happen. If what you really want is to be able to travel with and listen to music stick with an iPod.

First time i saw that i was in love. All the features are amazing and it can do what it says it can. but 1000 dollars is ridiculous. Its more than some real dj setups, with a pa system. Needs to go down before any real dj consumer will buy it....

Really??? It's more than say a gemini system.

Here's what we have been talking about collectively on the boards:

Setup 1:
2 CDJ-400s: ~$600 each
1 Xone:62 mixer - $900
Price: $2,100

Setup 2:
Laptop - $700-1,000
Traktor DJ/ableton - $200-350
External soundcard - $200-400
Midi Controller(s): $250-500
Price: $1,350-2,250

Looks to me like it's about half the cost of what we're all talking about buying ourselves. You could argue that the laptop has more uses, but you still have to buy it.

Actually... any quality one.

The lowest priced mixer at samash.com is a $60 gemini with...

OK... I could put together a crapy gemini system for $360. That won't do. It would be a horrible set up.

It's also no where near what people are talking about getting here. Realistically, some one here is going to drop over $1000 to gets started.

That may be true here, but there are thousands of other DJ's in the world. I guess it really comes down too, If you want to drop 1000 dollars to buy an mp3 player that you can also mix with. Most DJ's I'm sure love mixing with cds or vinyl. And i know i would never do a set with it. It would be fun to travel with and mess around with friends but it could never replace what we already have. Fun Though  laugh

the app is kinda weird, and runs bad on my laptop for some reason. but what i'm thinking about doing is mixing with ableton normally and then just chopping it up, throwing it in the app, and uploading to the site. The site is actually pretty cool.

I just had a mental picture of someone running around guerilla urban warfare style playing on-the spot mixes with a pacemaker for spare change on the street corner.

Wait maybe i'm thinking of that Pendulum video.. LOL I think I drank too much coffee!!   Huh

When I started, I bought a $400 Numark mixer, a paid another $400 for a pair of Numark TT200s. Add headphones, nice carts, and a couple of records, and you're at 1000$ for a fairly decent quality "budget" system. I'm just now looking to replace bits, 4+ years in, and that's because I want software... not because the hardware was bad.
