Other scholars have brought up the idea of the atoms in our brain being replaced and ask how we can know that all the memories we have from the past really happened?

you can prove a lot of your memories just by asking people who were there....

that being said, I like stuff like this.  Consider the implications: if we're NOT just our atoms (since we literally are a 100% new body every few years), then what does that point to?  It points to us being more than a physical body with neurons firing in our brains.  IE that we have a soul/ are a spirit.

I'm so intrigued by what parts of us constitute soul/spirit/memories/brain and so on. Like people who have had lobotomies, do they lose memories?

And how non-humans come into play. It's not hard to see that many animals have a conscience of some sort, whether they know right from wrong, they can be trained do from don't. So it that evidence of some sort of beyond-brain function, or is that solely brain memory working out what is best for the animal.

Even though we may have evidence that a memory is real because other people say it is, each time a atom is replaced, it still brings on aging and decay. So, even though the majority of our memories are real, is there a few that we think are real but aren't?

I was talking with my friend about pictures and videos we have seen. Sometimes when we recall a memory from childhood, we think we remember it when actually we remembered that we saw a picture or video of what happened but can't really confirm if we remember the experience.
