UK Buddies! Feel free to send us Euros!!  Grin  40 Euros for you is 80 USD for us!!   Wink
UK uses the Great British Pound still. And will hopefully never change to Euro - ever! Boo to central European government!

40 Euros is more like 60 USD. 40 Pounds is around 80 USD. I say go central European government... but watch out unified currency over too large a geographical area.

I've been sending in my Canadian dollars. The best dollars. Cheesy

Deadline: We need to decide Wednesday - 7 days from now - if we are doing this or not. If we don't have at least $1000, it's off. In Total, we're at $680. We need $320 to commit to the stage.
Alternative: We are starting to kick some ideas around now regarding this. At the top of the list right now is producing a CD with maybe some audio talking about the Afterhours stage, TF and has music on it. This CD would be given out during the day at the fest. We could probably do a run of 1,000 bulk w/ 3 color printing for $400 + shipping or about $650 + shipping with a paper sleeve. Any money left over will help cover getting the stage staff up to Bushnell via 1 SUV and gas.

Refunding is another option as well. This would leave about $100-150 in the budget.

We also still need to book slots for that stage. Right now the line-up still has holes in it and isn't as diverse as we'd like to see it. Since we can't pay people to play, that makes getting people booked that much harder. If we get the cash, and still scrap the idea, the CD handout will more likely be used.

Don't worry, if this doesn't happen I will be setting up with my own generator, turntables, 1x18", 2x15", 2500 watts, two turntables and traktor scratch.  No tent, no frills, no roasted, toasted, charburgers, just a barebones sound system  Cool
All are invited.  Again, only if this is the last resort.  But DeepLife will be representing fo sho.

Dave, I mean no disrepect, but I did it in 2005 and 2006, and I'll do it again.  I have offered my help through numerous channels, and I'm all about unity.

I'll be responding to and watching this thread.

Need the DJs to.

I'm seriously praying about this though. I keep coming back to the fact that the one thing we didn't do last year that was really needed was to give away something that people would really want to take home with them and then bring them back here. We also have talked a lot in the past about reaching out more to the general Christian market and trying to get it interested in dance music again. It may be that the CD idea is really what is needed over a generator stage. If we enough money and DJs to do both, I'd do both.

I'm not saying now that we're backing out of the stage, but I am saying that we're talking as a team about what to do.

My 2 cents... a CD's not a bad idea.

If the question is what's going to have a more lasting impact, then you've got to balance an "incredible club experience" that could stick in someone's mind forever, vs something concrete like a CD they can keep with them... but run the risk of losing. If you're covering the "incredible club experience" with the Dance Barn, then maybe a generator stage isn't the best usage of currently limited resources...

i would request a refund if the generator stage will not be sponsored by Tastyfresh, as opposed to a CD.

Also, what will be done with the generator if it is not going to be utilized? I would have you keep my donation to help cover the cost of bringing it to Cstone, as I would need to buy one myself for the sound system.

What is the purpose of the Generator Stage?

1. To Advertise Afterhours
2. To Raise Awareness of the fact that there are great Dance music producers and DJs who are Christians.
3. Fellowship with each other at the event and eventually turn that into new members at tastyfresh.com.

Will CDs serve the same goals?

Yes.

1. Not only will we advertise Afterhours, we'll give kids a sample of what to expect.  A lot of kids coming to cornerstone have never heard dance music before if they get a sample of what it is like and before coming in it'll be less shock when they walk in.  It'll also whet their appetite for great, high quality dance music.

2.  Meeting face to face with kids and talking to them about the music on the CDs and telling them what it is and who the artists are and such will add a personal touch to the music that they end up listening to.  At the generator stage we have often kids just walking by saying, "What are they doing over there???"

3.  Upon meeting some tastyfresh members who gave them free stuff, listening to the cd, having an experience at the dance barn / after hours, and then still listening to the cd after returning home will hopefully turn into members and new friends at tastyfresh.

refund options need to be between dave and the individual, it is not something that needs to be discussed or posted publically.

guys, this is 300 bucks in a week. how many people are on here on a regular basis? 300 bucks isnt that much. come one... i know most of you got your tax refunds and checks not long ago. sacrifice a movie or 2 and throw some cash in, come on...
