I used to spin some sl1200s in high school -- don't have those anymore, and don't want to use vinyl anymore (I'm not too keen on CDs either). I've got headphones and a MacBook Pro. I only have one audio out port on my laptop.

What you think I should get to start DJing again?

I have a MBP..

one audio out is the worse thing.. can't use anything with it really but others will tell you exactly what you really want to do. My advice.. get a external audio unit.

I use the DJio... its ok for house partys and for lil stuff.. but like a lot of people will prob say.. it's not the best hardware to go for. But prob best to go for something with at least 2 sets of stereo outputs, headphone out an mic in.

I started on Cue, which i liked layout an stuff.. but these guys here got me try traktor more an now i love it. great piece of software.. ID tags work so much better than cue. Mate uses serato but u gotta get that uni then i believe to use the software properly.

However i didn't get on with traktor LE version.. got a lot of trouble with an seemin to stutter etc.. however traktor 3 full is great.

Jus for further information.. i use mine with numark's total control aswel.. which gives u easier and makes it quicker to adjust stuff than the mouse.. an shortcuts, and i believe better for beat matching. However that is another £200?
great thing is traktor can use an external mixer.. so i plug mine into my mixer so i can also hook up CD or vinyls..

any way guna stop talkin now.. jus goin on bout nothing. hope it helped

you can get a nice controller today with a soundcard.  I have an Audio 8, but may end up having both styles soon.  Keep one in the studio, one for the road type thing who knows.  Traktor is what I use, its real nice...  Sounds like you need an interface anyway for your studio if you are really on using one out?

Yes a dj controller and a sound card! with dj software
Best options around at the moment are

VCI 100 which comes with tracktor! (as doug suggested)
http://www.vestax.com/v/products/players/vci100.html

Maudio Xponent which also comes with software and also a sound card
http://www.bargainaddicts.co.uk/m-audio-x-ponent/?gclid=CJzU86KIrpICFQN3MAodmBAsNQ

At the moment id favour the vci100 but u need to get a sound card as well!

Im hoping to get the vci 300 which is bit more pricey and comes with serato software.
Still waiting for its release!

Depends on your budget, but I think most here would recommend Traktor.
