Hi everyone -

So, I got asked to DJ a 'club night' (my words) for a Christian student group on campus. I'm super excited and starting to think through track choices. Any suggestions for good, current 'primer' EDM tracks for people not used to the music? I've still got to get some clarification on how the evening will look (will they want a more worship-oriented night, or fun or somewhere in between).

But, I'm really estatic because I've got some time to practice, plan and be creative and get to introduce a fun genre to some new folk...yeah!

best way to do it is probably going to be using remixs of pop. hate to say it, but it might just be what you need to do.

Yes, I was thinking similar to provide some accessiblity, but I've got a bit of freedom given to me from the coordinator of the event; they're looking for stuff they've never heard before.

Regardless, I'm super excited...

the numb remix of lin park is super good

kylie minogue has a new remix out

coldplay is hard to go wrong with

also any of the pink floyd numb remixes do the trick.

vocals will be a key. If it ain't got 'em... they may not be into it. Beyond that... since it's a church event... vocals might also be a problem Wink

That's what I'm wondering. Specifically, I'm picturing this as more of a sell for EDM than anything--thus I want to be mixing in vocals from more 'overt' Christians, tracks people would recognize, a few spiritually friendly secular tracks and maybe one non-vocal and I have the evening.

later this month you'll want to get Sk8 - Amnesty. Seriously. The track is right up your alley for this.

Thanks so much - it's actually up on beatport now - the Chris Cox Club Anthem is about the pacing I was thinking.

I've got some work to do...lol.

Hey everyone -

So, it was last night and I have to say it went off pretty well. I got to represent a number of people's remix work and it was good to introduce them to EDM artists who follow Jesus. I had a couple of folks ask about tastyfresh.

I have to say mixing is addicting. I'm *so* new at it, but it was fun to sit in between tracks for a little while and not shift into the next track so quickly. I wish I was in a place where I could do it more... Smiley

Thanks for your help! Smiley
