"We featured the exclusive look at the hot new CDJ-400 (£449 Pioneerdj ) in last issues tech pages. The incredible feature list makes it an attractive deal for those on the hunt for a high performance, workhorse deck. But the story doesn’t stop there. The bods at Pioneer have surprised us by adding soundcard capabilities to this beast, making it a real all rounder for all kinds of DJing. The USB port on the rear of the unit will stream audio from a computer to the CDJ-400, which then connects to a mixer using the usual RCA jacks. Audio and Midi control makes it an ideal deck for Traktor etc."

It's still over $1000 us. I could get a really good controller and sound card and a laptop for that price.

Where is the advantage?

clubs could have one installed in their booth and DJs could come and hook up their laptop to it and not have to worry about jacking into the mixer and wires and such...

I think that it's more of a club install solution when they go all in one like this...  if a club installs two of these in their booth they have laptop djs (soundcard+midi), ipod/usb drive djs, cd djs all covered

It doesn't make much sense to me but I'm thinking that's where they're going with this...

this dosent make sense to me, thats more expensive than the 800.

since the 800 is a higher model shouldn't it be more expensive?

Dude... the DJ then has to install drivers on his laptop. That doesn't ness work either. I wouldn't want to install drivers that I haven't tested before going live. That's moronic.

No. Not always. Besides, these DO things the 800 only dreams of.

what may happen is the 400 will come out ... then they'll make a new MK version of the 800 and make the price higher than the 400...
