Leather Spinster in the making

WWW
« on: February 28, 2008, 12:55:37 PM »

Lately, I've been struggling with SAD, mainly due to living in the snow belt now (blah), and also things aren't working out quite as I had expected.  I know that I'll be fine in the long run (always am and keep reminding myself!), so I just concentrate on that.

It seems that there have been a lot of prayer requests and few praises lately.  I'm not at all trying to make light of the praise requests.  I have hesitated in adding my own.  But, how about if we all take a moment to list all the things that we do have to be thankful for -- physically, emotionally, spiritually, materially, etc.  If we each think about it, we probably have a lot more than we realize.  I'll post mine later.  I just wanted to get this started.

Cheers!

Amen Faith! Things could be ALOT worse in all our lives. And besides, God doesn't owe us a cushy life. He doesn't owe us anything! He already gave us everything!

I'm grateful, that despite my current situation, I can still be of service to the kingdom!
Though I still need prayer for work, I've been praying for others and God has been blessing them tremendously! Sometimes, I have to just let go, and let God, and this seems like one of those times. Seriously, let me pray for you.   Smiley

I'm grateful for good friends, more than anything. Good music and good food come shortly after that.

Okay.  Finally, for the first time in weeks, I'm not actually in a hurry when I get on here.  I like lists, so here goes:

1.  I get along A LOT better with my family than I used to, so that's been nearly peachy keen, since moving back here, something I would have never thought possible at one time.
2.  My health is great and has been great.  No colds or flu for meeeee!
3.  I have a lot better sense of self, healthy self-identity, and self-esteem, and feel great about myself, despite things.
4.  I don't have anything stopping me from changing careers, except for, well, the system itself.  LOL.
5.  I have great friends, all around.  I've always had friends that have cared for me a great deal, but I have great quality friends that I've connected with at church here now.
6.  I love the church I go to........ although there are absolutely no male prospects, but anyway.  Moving on.........  <lol-smirk>
7.  I like my freedom, am very comfortable with my non-married status.  I just love it!  So, I guess that's something to be thankful for, all around, huh?
8.  When less than pleasant things occur, or bad moods, etc., we can ALL be thankful that they're a passing thing, huh?  HUH?
9.  My two pet cats which are like little angels from heaven, almost.  Ha ha!
10.  It's sunny and warm today, and spring is getting closer all the time!

If I think of more, which I may, I'll post that, too.

But, anyway, BIG BUMP to this thread.  Have a great day

great stuff to be thankful for!!

Isn't it odd that I have the exact opposite? I LOVE the gray/rainy/cold days and when it's summer time I nearly feel like I'm dying cos it's so hot and bright?

Haha yeah, I had a best friend that was from NZ as well and he said the same thing/as well as HAD the SAD. He NEEDED the sun just to *survive*, and I needed to stay away at ALL costs. AND, the fact that I work 11-7 with NO sunlight (And I turn on the AC at night ( =] )... ya GOTTA love that!!! Peeps here joke about me being a vamp. I think it's funny in relation to my birth origin. From Manchester to Ga doesn't compute in genetics, eh? LOL.

It's odd how people are so different. I love that. if God made us all the same we'd be a boring planet. It took me YEARS to be ok with my natural glumness/loving the cold grey days, I went against EVERYONE here's (Ga) grain, but hey, you gotta be who you are. LOL.

I'm DEF thankful!

Smiley

I don't really know what I am anymore. When my wife and I recently got came "home" to Finland, from a 6 week vacation in New Zealand, we felt the rush of cold air getting off the plane and though "Ahh, home sweet home." I then cried out in agony at what had gone wrong inside of me. I guess 8 years in Canada, and 6 months (so far) in Finland is enough to develop an appreciation for cold weather.

The only problem is, this November might see us in Africa for a few months, which would be a major shock to the system, ha.
