My first question would be...when your at the gym what type of exercises are you focusing on?

also...you may have to kiss goodbye to all deserts / ice cream / eating out until you reach your goal weight... then you can bring some back in as long as you can maintain.
No. If I were to do that I would get so sick and frustrated with my diet I would give it up all together. This allows me to be balanced. And I AM making progress. It's just slow, steady progress.
I origionally lost 11 lbs....but then went through my depression bout with not having a job and what not, and binged out and didn't go to the gym, so I gained it all back.
But I'm back on track now.
if you were making progress thats all that matters.
that means you already found what works for you and you just need to stick with it.

I try to watch what I eat, but I snack too much. I think I'm about 10 kg overweight. I should do more exercise, allthough I do cycle about an hour every day.

coke classic. 6 to 8 a day. water, juice, gatoraide yeah, that too. But I have to have my caffeine. As far as calcium leeching?? That's what fosamax is for. Diet: Generally healthy, nothing WAY too fattening, maybe a ice cream binge every now and then. Excercise? LOADS I am a nurse, I walk all the time. fat? not really. I mean for my age, I look GOOD. My KIDS say I look the best out of all the mum's. So, yeah, no biggie. I am for SURE not a super model or anything. lol, but for the average guy? They think I look great. Me? I think I look gnarly. So, I dunno..

25, 5'5" about 270lbs.
far as I know, Im just overweight, other than that, I feel fine.
couple of summers ago, I had started drinking more water, was working out almost every day, ate little less sweets, starches and lost like 30 lbs. Just after that summer, I fell back into the norm. Of course the norm now is much better than I was in high school. I was drinking a 20 oz Mountain Dew and some debbie cake or whatever was in the snack machine. For lunch, ate whatever they had and ate a late dinner. Now its breakfast every other day, lunch (fast food or subway 2-3 times a week and rest I cook myself.), snack and dinner. Dinner has gotten earlier as well.
only exercise I do now is what I do at work, need to get back on a work out routine again. What I do at work, at least keeps me from gaining more weight for the most part. When I was working out, I was gaining muscle left and right, I seem to do it easily.
For the most part, I drink combination of water, juices, sport drinks and sodas. At work, i try to drink water and soda. At home, mixture of juices, sodas, milk, tea and water. I don't think I'll ever be able to completely stop drinking soda, its good.
Eating wise, just been eating whatever I wanted, but portions have been getting smaller since high school. I don't eat as much sweets/desserts any more. 100% wheat bread most of the time, but what kills me is potatoes, pasta and rice. need to start eating less of those.
yeah, ya'll probably want to slap me on the head like the V8 juice commercial, lol.

Well I am a bit like Joel it sounds in eating habits. I eat as many raw fruits and vegetables as I can everyday, lots of water, no pop, no coffee, but defo green teas etc. I drink lots of odwalla juices etc, grow wheatgrass in the summer, make fresh carrot/apple juices etc etc. I eat very little red meat, no pork, and I cut out alchohol a few years back. I ate vegan for a couple years to try and cleanse my body after I trashed myself for a few years, but now I just try and eat well rounded. Anyway, now its smaller portions but I eat all day long type thing at work, haha. I also work out a few times a week, and sit in an infrared sauna every week to detox and cleanse my system. I usually am taking some type of cell cleansing products 50% of the year due to the environment I sometimes have to work in. I really try to avoid sugar, and deepfried foods, and I love mexican food with super hot sauce...yeah we usually cook every night. I got majorly into health due to my wife being very ill, so it kind of changed my life
man you are hardcore!
i dont know if i have the self control to do all the but id probably be better off if i did.
oh and for the record... only hippies drink wheatgrass shakes
Well, it didn't happen over night man. Its a long process, but some education on what you are eating goes along way. I love wheatgrass shots...but no birkenstocks here.. haha

Well not sure I'll be slapping you, but I am concerned a bit. Your current weight puts you over the top for diabetes, and defo cut about 20 years off your life already. You should easily weigh about 100lbs less. Anyway I'd like to encourage you to keep at it and change your eating habbits. If you want to loose weight you have to eat more times a day, smaller portions, not less, skipping breakfast is a bad idea for that, and ultimately slows your metabolism down. You should be backin off food as the night goes on, but fueling up with proper foods early in the day. Drinking pop, and sports drinks is not good for you, they have major calories, and increase your bodily water. Not to mention that most soda destroys the lining of your stomach. Keep it up man....get back on the water, and keep up your excercise, set small goals for yourself and see where you are at in a year. Its a must...

The diabetes is an interesting point, as by eating poorly for long enough, if you're overweight, you can develop diabetese. Which is brutal... if you think about it... developing diabatese just from bad habits. I'm trying to convince my brother to eat better, as he's prime real estate for it right now.

its not easy to eat healthy. just a tip try to eat more organic food, esp dark greens, any organic vegetable, fruits. I'm a fish maniac (white fish, tuna, salmon), piedmontese beef or ostrich for light red meat intake, amino acids. theres plenty of good healthy foods that have immense health benefit nowadays and supplemenst are just that, supple-ment.
good luck on your health man i know from personal experience its a battle in itself.
everybody has their own targets, you know? believe me when i say it eating healthy is costly.
exercise and weight loss is a whole another matter and to sum it up is a regimented exercise and eating in less amounts esp. no food before bedtime!
a severe discipline!!!!

My Grandpa ate whatever he wanted and lived to be 90 and strong as an ox. I think it was a combination of good genetics and grace from the Lord. He was a farmer and worked hard most of his life. Also around his late thirties or early 40's the doctor told him he had an irregular heartbeat. So he took a nap everyday around noon for the rest of his life.
I tend to eat fairly healthy. My wife cooks meals. Lean meat, plenty of veggies, and she likes to cook rice a lot. I take a multivitamin....sometimes. I used to eat like 5 large meals a day without gaining anything. However, I have reached the big 30 and my body is starting to change again. I did wrestle for the first time in 13 years a couple of weeks ago. I've went back a few times and loved it! I'm going to help as an assistant coach next year so I have to get my cardio and flexibility up to par....or at least up.
There needs to be a good balance of us being good stewards of our body and trusting in the Lord.

my grandpa was just like that too (a farmer as well) but consider this....
when our grandpas were our age what were they eating? they didnt have little debbie cakes, pixy stix, slim jims, slurpies etc... they ate things that were pretty close to all natural.
we ingest a slury of chemicals every day and have been since our birth... this is why we need to take the extra steps and counteract things that may have never been a problem for someone living 2 or 3 generations ago.
just something to consider...

I think if God made angels hide in human form they would eat slim jims.

Hey bro, keep up the good work, and i'll commence the prayers(mutually exclusive, hehehe, but powerful together). Try getting some kelp, pineapple and metamucil. I also love ice cream, and have learned about subs i can mix in with the regs. Like freezing bananas or overripe plantains. adding chocolate, coffee. nuts or any other fruit i like. If you can get wholesale or cheap bananas at someplace other than at your local supergrocery this will be a cheap option. Also lemon balm oil smells greeeeat, and helps with the thyroid. Stevia herb also is a great sweetner option, that helps in lowering blood sugar and boosting metabolism giving you great energy.

i'm also into making green drinks
A couple leaves of a dark green. Dandelion, Kale, Cabbage and Spinach are good choises. I also will add a little broccoli, fennel, parsley or lettuce sometimes.
Then some apples, bananas, berries, citrus grapes or pears, or a combination of these or any other fruits i have around. For those that like added sweetness, you can add sugar(only if ya gotta) fruit herbal teas, raw honey, maple syrup, agave cactus syrup(great and also an anti-bacterial and a great estrogen herb for our ladies friends, especially during their time, margaritas during menses, a tradition i pray more adopt)
Adding a little stevia also can help with metabolism and loweing blood sugar. Gives a fennel/licorishe flavor that goes well with berries and apples. Each fruit has different attributes, and used with a little research and thought they can give people better outcomes than thought of.
these drinks give you amazing energy. also for dieters, i would not recommend carrots, for they are very starchy and sugary and will hamper metabolism. a certified nutritionalist friend shared this with me.
