Oh! The irony!
That pretty much settles that debate
NOT Sawyers.
You're right though, Jack's nephew, super ironic!

Disappears anyway.
Can't imagine what would make her leave the baby on it's own.
Ghostdad or not.

At this point, its very possible Jack isn't ironic...that he KNOWS about his DAD and Claire...after all, both he and Claire see "daddy dearest" in this episode. Next one, maybe they have a family meeting!

yeah DA, i'm thinking that "future jack" knows about his step-sister/nephew, and that the dad-cheating-on-mom thing is at least part of the reason he initially wanted to avoid aaron.

Couple other things...
in
How did Ben 'control' (or at least call) that black smoke beast?
Knowing what you know now, do you change your mind about who was in the coffin at the funeral no one attended? (except Jack)
How are dead people (Charlie admitted he was dead) showing up? Where are they really?
What's up with the dude that killed Sayid's "wife"? He's a bad bad man. But what's the fit between him, Whitmore and Abbadon?

So I was chatting with Becca and one of her coworkers today at lunch (on wifi from the local BBQ dig
). We came up with a great theory:
When Ben went into the little room, he actually went into a teleportation device (the black box that brought Lock's dad, perhaps?). That's how he ended up in the Sahara desert with no tracks. This is supported in that the two guys who came to him apparently said something about there being no tracks in their foreign language. The change of clothes? Well, there were clothes hanging in that room Ben went into.
So anyway. The teleporter put him into the past or future or something, and those guys he killed were actually the very same guys who were on the island to kill him. And this is what unleashed the black smoke - the black smoke is actually a kind of 'course correcting' thing that happens on the island. Since these men were killed in another time off the island, the black smoke 'corrected' it by killing them ON the island. It would make sense... the black smoke could be like a rift in the space-time continuum that is 'forcing' a course correction to keep the universe from tearing apart (thanks Doc. Brown!). I'd explain the little flashes of images as things that happened in someone's past/future/present that are manifesting as the black smoke is 'correcting' something.
Also, why can't Ben kill Whitmore? Perhaps Whitmore is Ben's constant!
Anyway. Just some theorizing...

The only part that really moved me there, was your mentioning Ben can't kill Whitmore. I hadn't even realized that. But yeah...his CONSTANT! I LOVE IT! Brilliant!

But doesn't a Constant have to be someone you can contact in
both
time-periods?
It could simply be a case of Ben not being able to kill Widmore because--unlike the younger Charlie--he isn't
"supposed to die."
If this is true, then any attempt to kill Widmore would simply result in the timeline "course-correcting" itself.
Fate vs. Freewill.

Maybe he
does
contact him in both periods. If Ben and Whitmore have a past together it makes great sense. Whitmore obviously knows who Ben is because of some
past
event we know nothing of.
We also know that death is a funny thing in the future flashes...we don't really know why...but we see that Jack couldn't kill himself, nor could Michael when he had the gun. Something strange about that. 'Islanders' that leave the island have some weird curse/ability whereby they are not able to die. We know Whitmore also said that Ben 'stole' his island from him. Possibly he has been there before and Ben cannot kill him now. (I don't see a Dharma connection to Whitmore though....weird that they haven't been linked yet.)
P.S... i forgot who Daniel's (the scientist) Constant was ... ?

I don't remember Jack ever trying to kill himself. I think you can chalk Michael's situation up to his work on earth not being over yet.

Hmm. That is possible. We've yet to see if anyone has died
after
they've left The Island, but we've certainly seen people, who've left The Island and then return, die. Tom being one of them.

It's Desmond. Daniel has had contact with him in both 1996(?) and 2004 (present-day on The Island). But it supposedly must be someone very important to the time-traveler. Otherwise Desmond should've simply been able to contact Daniel and be stabilized.

Possibly...
There definitely are some people who the Island won't let die, but I think it's selective and not just anyone who's been on the island.
We'll see as more is revealed
What about Hurley saying they were all dead already?
Crazy stuff.
If they were all dead already, and just living in their "happy places" then little Aaron would not be real, and Charlie wouldn't care if Jack raised him.
Sun would also have seen Jin live, and raised their baby together. I don't think her "happy place" is at her husband's tombstone...
Them being dead would explain a lot of the mystical stuff, but it doesn't jive with other things, so I don't buy it.
It must just be Hurley's way of trying to make sense of Charlie and some of the other mystical stuff that's happening.
