New promos for this coming week's episode is teasing the idea that the island will take one of the survivors. Someone's gonna die!  Shocked

So, the most interesting comment of the episode, for me, was when Whitmore says to Ben, "I know what you are" (or was is "who you are").  Anyway, I wouldn't be surprised if the whole show re-centers on Ben and he ends up being the "good guy / hero" of the entire story arch.  Kinda like finding out that Star Wars was all about Darth Vader rather than Luke Skywalker.

I wondered a bit about that a while ago. But I didn't really consider it seriously. It was more of a comment to my wife like "Wouldn't it be really twisted if Ben actually was the good guy?"

Anybody else start to wonder whether Penelope's reason for looking for the island is really as noble as it seems? When Desmond told her that he was going to call her on Christmas Eve in a few years, that might've given her the idea that finding Desmond in the future will lead her back to Daddy's island so that he can get it back from Ben.

Two people drift in a lifeboat. One says, "I see an island. Our best chance is to go ashore, build a shelter, and await rescue." The others says, "No, we must go farther out to sea and hope to find the shipping lanes." Unable to agree, the two fight, the lifeboat capsizes, and they drown.

Sure, Ben's the good guy.

What has he been saying throughout the series?

"We're the good guys."

I've been on the "Ben is a good guy" bandwagon for about a year now. Although he did deserve that beating Jack gave him.

When you look at how many people Ben and The Others have killed, then look at how many the Oceanic 815'ers have killed; it's much easier to question which side we should be rooting for.

That is if you leave out that whole Darma massacre thing. Wink

I agree, I think Ben is a 'damaged hero' archetype. Wink

Oops. Yeah.

Well I was thinking as far as 815 vs. Others. My idea came from the Season 3 Finale where Ben has Tom and some Others fake killing Jin, Sayid and James; then Hurley plows over the Others with the Microbus.

Ben is indeed a damaged hero.

An "Anti-Hero" type, like the Punisher.

I figured that was what you meant. I just had to nitpick. Grin

Yeah, in 815 vs. Others, there have been many more casualties on the Others' side. In fact, at least 3 of the 815 deaths were at the hands of their own (Ana Lucia and Lily--Michael wasn't told to kill them--and Shannon--though her death was accidental). I'm trying to think of any of the 815 gang that were actually killed by The Others. I thought there were some, but I'm drawing a blank.

Boone was an accidental death by Locke as well.

There's the unnamed deaths (whose number escapes me at the moment) by The Others at the hand of Ethan Rom and Goodwin Stanhope.

I didn't mention Boone because Locke only talked him into trying to get up to the plane. So Locke wasn't directly responsible.

Yes, but practically everyone held Locke responsible for it.
