I couldn't decide if I should post this here, or in the prayer and praise section, so if any admins think it should be moved feel free.
Club Worship is under a whole new leadership and is moving into a much different direction than what it's been serving as for the past 7 years. We've always intended CLub Worship to be for the church, as a worship experience. Yes we had some preaching and testimony and people did get saved, but that was never our focus.
Under the new leadership, it is definitely their focus. They plan on taking it to the streets and reaching out to younger generations. While I think it's a great idea and vision it's not something I feel to be a part of. They designed this contract that all staff members must sign to continue serving as staff....and after reading it I cannot sign it with a full heart.
Therefore, it is with a heavy heart and MANY tears that I am resigning from Club Worship. It still is an awesome, one of a kind event that you ALL should come experience some day. There just won't be anymore awesome lighting chick rocking the pocket scans

It's hard to come to a point with a ministry that you know you can not go any further with. Glad to see you have the courage to stay true to your heart!

So... who's in charge now and what exactly will they be doing??
The specific leader of Club Worship is Josh Horst, but he is under the advisary and supervision of the church that now owns Club Worship, which is Hope Of The Nations, and also some group called RRTN. I don't really know who RRTN is or what they do. When Jeff was in charge, he was under the supervision of, well, JEFF! We were our own organization and had complete freedom. We don't have that anymore. Now we must pay to get background checks done, and undergo a spiritual evaluation if we wanna serve on the team.
As far as what direction they're going. They wanna somehow make the transition to use Club Worship as a street evangelism tool. They wanna target to younger kids.....which IMO ruins Club Worship as being a Club and a Worship service cause younger kids just don't get it, ya know? Plus when there's a room full of 14 yr olds the older teens/young adults don't wanna come on the dance floor cause the 14 yr olds don't dance, they just stand around acting dumb. Imagine a middle school dance. Seriously
They're still having the normal two Club Nights....for now at least. And I think Jeff still plans to come DJ and Worship Lead once in a while. My issue is I personally cannot sign that contract, therefore I would be removed anyways. Which I think is bull cause I've been working for Club Worship longer than some of the new leaders even knew Club Worship excisted. What REALLY ruffles my feathers is most of the people "in charge" of Club Worship DON'T EVEN COME TO CLUB WORSHIP!!!!!!!!!!! They do all the behind the scene controlling without actually even seeing what goes on from one week to the next.
I'm gonna miss my lights like crazy. It really has become a passion for me as much as Dj-ing is for so many of you.

Yeah, sadly that's the way things are going these days. So many examples of that around where I'm from. For example, people on the board of directors for a Christian camp who I am sure have never seen the camp grounds in person but only through pictures. And they live an hours drive from it! I know your frustration in that situation.

was it intentionally for young adults? Seriously, People need to start getting involved, in every aspect. From my experience with DaGathering, all ages from within 16-30 range have shown up, and there was unity with all the age groups. Yes, word does need to get out more, however, it is our job to make sure that poeple actually get it, which in my opinion, not many are doing that today, either they are too lazy or just wanting to find another hot spot. DaGathering provides a service to people, and the only way we found that they understand is when we go up to them and explain that, then they are in awe and then understand what its all about. We've tried placing the bible on the front counter and found out that drives most people away
... its when we just share the Gospel without them feeling pressured that we see more people come to know christ and are saved. This is why I am going to continue with DaGathering and wherever God leads me to go, hopefully my 1st booking will come to pass one day...soon hehe
You're right Kairsie, we do need to take a stand for what is right. Just remember, God remembers our actions as well as our thoughts, so everything we do as an act of worship is not in vain. I will be praying for Club Worship as well as you finding another job.
Love you in Christ

this is really sad.... i was hoping to experience club worship someday, the next time i am on the east coast. from the sounds of this transition, i don't blame you on your decision. i don't really have a desire to go now that it's changed in that direction.

fortunately it's only a 'possible' sad ending as for you personally it could be a development. You stated you were going to miss your lights but there are planty of people out there who could use your skills so you could pick up other work with those and be a light in yourself. I respect that the thrust of club worship may be changing but choose not to look at what you have been doing but to look to what you will become. Breath take God in and see what's next it may be even better.

Kairsie...You have way too much talent to just let go. Perhaps moving on from this group is what you need.
What I'm getting at is....Have you thought about rallying the troops, starting from scratch, and doing things the way you feel like they should be done? I think you'd be aces at this!

Keith, don't go that far. Club Worship is still an awesome event worth attending. The "outreach" nights or whatever will be seperate from the regular club nights. (i think) And it will take them some time to even go that way so still come check it out.
Oneel, thanks for the compliment......but I don't really know where else my skills can ve used around here. Most other clubs in my area don't use live LJ's.......they have it all beat controlled. And starting over from scratch, A) I don't wanna make it seem like I would be building a "rival" and B) I just don't have time to start something up from scratch.
