I am sure in the next 6 months the price will go down like the I-Phone. I wonder what some of the other windows based companies will come up with to rival the Mac.

there actually are a lot of available windows based ultra portable laptops already out there. most of them are cheaper and faster then the mac. in fact, the mac is actually REALLY LATE in the game of ultra portable laptops. the only real difference is that the mac is more thin then most of the windows based ones.

....or because it works for me.  there are many Windows machines that do in fact rival Macs but then again they are Windows machines so what's the point?

not so true. i grew up on a mac. for the last 6 years i have been using a Powermac for the line of work i do. i just find them easier to use. i am sure windowz pc's work great, even better than macs but i just cant stand using them. its just a personal preference for me. i will agree the specs on the new Macbook Air are pretty lame though. prices are ridiculous.

what¿?

My take on the actual issue at hand is

a ) It's WAY too expensive  Cheesy
b ) It doesn't have a tablet screen  Cheesy
3 ) I switched to using numbers, rawr  Cool
4 ) I personally think the wedge shape looks kinda goofy  Cheesy
5 ) I have to ship it off or take it to a "Certified" apple guy to get the battery replaced.  Cheesy
6 ) It's really, really lite  Cool
7 ) 5 Hour battery Life  Cool
8 ) No optical disk  Cheesy
9 ) I have to wear a black turtleneck and jeans when i buy one  Cheesy
J ) Back to letters again  smiley30

So while i can appreciate some of the incremental improvements, it's not really that big a deal to me. I'll stick with my MacBook Pro.

Dang, I didn't see that. That's kinda crappy too. The SSD would probably be faster though. Still though, on a PATA channel, that'd still be weak.
