Introducing Tastyfresh Groove Fellowships
This is it; we talk about building a scene and seeing more parties on a national scale. Let’s make it happen.
The first thing that needs to happen is the development of small groups or fellowships in towns. These small groups would eventually, but not initially throw parties in their home towns. The initial focus is simply to get the people of Tastyfresh.com out of the virtual world and into the real one. These small groups can be house parties, prayer groups, bible study groups, handing out water at secular events, evangelism, it doesn’t matter. The point is getting Christians who love dance music together in a meaningful way that builds real world relationships that go far beyond the bonds of tastyfresh.com.
Who’s In Charge?
Each small group is to be in charge of their own group. Tastyfresh.com isn’t going to be your leader or commander. We are going to be your central communication hub however for sharing ideas, results, and questioning what to do next. We hope and RECOMMEND that the group finds a local church and pastor to help support the spiritual growth and direction of the group as well as to hold them accountable. As a whole however, the groups should remain largely non-denominational, but the church can be of any denomination willing to lend a hand.
Why Even Associate the Group with Tastyfresh.com?
There are at least 5 reasons why Tastyfresh.com should be the core hub for these groups. Here they are:
1) Find common base instructions on how to START (not maintain, group, act, etc...) a local community.
2) A place to share and discuss their struggles and successes in forming that community.
3) A place they can send people to (like churches) who may need to more information about these fellowships and the dance scene in general.
4) They will build off the reputation of Tastyfresh.com and make the groups seem more "legit."
5) Allow us as a "scene" to start as many communities as possible within a short period of time.
So, How Do We Get Started?
None of us here at Tastyfresh.com believe that we have all of the answers. We do know that we have over 300 minds who post on this message board. Together over the next few weeks we need to collectively work this out. DJ404 and Pat D have some valuable experience in founding their Groove Fellowship several years ago and I have some in founding the one in Atlanta (that hasn’t met in a year now, but will be again soon). We also have people like Kevin Coffman, Brandon, Fatcat and others who have been throwing events since the 90’s. We have tons of experience and just need to start sharing it here.
Here is what you need on the most basic level:
1) A place to meet. A house or an apartment is fine. It doesn’t have to be fancy.
2) Some grub.
3) Directions to get to that place.
4) Some posts on this site and maybe flyers at your church to drum up interest.
5) Some prayer time prior to the event.
What Should I Expect?
Maybe nothing. Maybe Something. God will move when he moves. It’s sometimes frustrating, but oh so beautiful when he does finally move. You may have one or two people at this event for the first few meetings. You might also have as many as fifteen or more. It all depends on your promotional abilities and the interest in your area. Just be realistic and don’t be discouraged if attendance is low, it is something to build on.
What Should We Do at the First Event?
Keep it simple. Get to know each other. Find out what everyone’s interests and skills are. Find out how flexible their schedule is. Find out how often they would like to meet. Find out what they ultimately might want to see happen in your town.
Why the Name Groove Fellowships?
It is just a name. DJ 404 and Pat D were using it for their group in California. It sounded decent, so I asked if I could use it here. As Tastyfresh.com is not going to be the overlord of these groups, you can call yours whatever you wish. Groove Fellowship can be used if you like though. Eventually we may have a logo and more for this. “A part of the Tastyfresh.com Groove Fellowship Network” may be a possible sticker/label/tag line. It is all up in the air and open for discussion.
In Closing
As I said earlier, we at Tastyfresh.com don’t have all the answers concerning these events just yet. The idea is still in its infancy. I firmly believe that given what I have laid out, we should be able to iron out any problems and be able to build these fellowships throw discussion on this board. Yes, we may need to have some spiritual discussions about this. Since they would be related to building the dance scene, this IS one place they specifically are allowed.
So, let’s do this! Start asking questions. Start looking for people from your area. Start a Groove Fellowship!

Dave, I am so glad to see you go public with this. I have been trying to develop a fellowship here in Northeast Kansas/North West Missouri. So far no luck. Ethan Bliss is here and we never keep in touch. A few of the local DJ's here are Christians but they are heavily involved in the secular scene and have no time for anything like this. I think I just need to pick a place and set a date and tell everybody I know who might be interested.
I will get with Pat D and write an article soon. Maybe I will also email you the old Groove Central Fellowship website so you can see if there is anything you can use. If there is anything I can do to help, let me know. By the way, the vision I once had for Groove Central Fellowship is now transferred to DJ's For Christ, but with a slight difference. Maybe Tastyfresh and DJ's For Christ can work together to make this happen and arrange annual regional fellowships (aside from Cornerstone).

Maybe we can. That will have to be pretty far down the road though. We have lot of foundation to lay first.

This is very cool. This could have awesome results if people are able to put healthy fellowships together.
It's easier to start something, it's much harder to have healthy fellowships. If this could happen, it would be huge for the kingdom.
It all starts on our knees.

i would be interested in participating and connecting more with this model as well. I like the name groove fellowship, and we could do something either on a club worship night (before after or during the event) or on a different night at the studio I work at. Club Worship has been used before for something like this. Tronster used to call people occaisionally and let them know when some people in his crew and philly, and such and everyone would meet up at club worship and hang out.
I just dont know if there are enough interested individuals to show up - you know to drive the distance. But I would be glad to host such a thing.

first of all thanks for the info. I am a missionary/dj with ywam amsterdam and the scene there is well developed but I am now home in guadalajara, mexico and the scene here is nonexistant, I have met 1 dj who got saved and started going to my church but doesn't go anymore, his name is Gabriel Sordo, so please pray for him. Our ministry basically consist of us going (my wife and I) to clubs and talking to people, sharing our faith and inviting them to our church or bible study group. We intercede in the clubs and when I am djing I pray for specific people and mix some christian tracks basically from "sunsets and sushi" remixes fron David Crowder Band, some "Shiloh" tracks, "Gus Gus" or anything that I hear has a positive message in the words according to christian principles or that I sense a certain annointing on the music.
Well, I don´t want to deviate, what I want is for you guys to pray for us to get something going down here and to start having fellowship with you guys, share music, testimonies and God's love.
Million Blessings

Hey Redsavior
My name is Jesse and i'm from Winnipeg Canada. My friend Dean and i has just started a Djing/production company it is called "Truth Circuit" Our main goal for the Djing side of it is to promote Christian music through live Djing, educating everyone in the underground side of all genera's of Christian music. We are new to the producing side of the company and excited to see God move through the music we are going to write. We are right now just starting to apply for a grant from the Aboriginal business Canada for our studio and our PA. We want to see in our city a crew of on fire Christians that want to spread the Gospel through our lives and the music we play and write. This new avenue you guy has started has just played nicely to what we want to see happen in our city and around the world. Count Truth Circuit in on the groove fellowship.

Shalom:
Mazeltoff to you Bernardo and Noelle and the little scratcher:) hazey: been meeting lots of Davids lately, including Elisha's bf. Gotta theological question to ask you bro when you get a chance.
Been awhile, but here's the scoop:
"I will be relocating to Hamilton Heights (Harlem/Sugar Hill) by August 1st of this year as part of a vibrant community of nine ministry-oriented believers in Jesus, chosen to live in a drug den converted into palacious brownstone and have their destinies intertwined, and realize what happens when people stop just being polite and start getting real. Christians in the Real World: Harlem!"
I've relayed the message about my move with DJ Kenny Mitchell... I've got some turntables... Besides having experience hosting a home group in Westchester... So, we shall see...

Hi, my name is David and I live in Houston. Dallas has the trappings of a Christian music scene, with clubs like The Door that host a few dj's (I've been told) from time to time.
I don't dance to dance music. I've never had the chance to learn or even attempt to dance to it. I really enjoy listening to it, and I especially enjoy mixing (but not enough cash flow), and I would love to see it transformed into worship, somehow.
I know of no dance scene, secular or otherwise, in the Houston area (sure, we have clubs like The Roxy, Hush, etc., but they don't play trance/techno/DnB, just R&B). I have no contacts with any Dj's in Texas, much less Houston. My church has put on christian concerts in the past, and we are currently attempting to book Andy Hunter to come by sometime (I suggested it, and no one else knew who I was talking about!). I can realistically see that happening sometime in the next few years.
I would love to start a Tastyfresh Groove Fellowship in my area. Maybe I can just play trance while we pray, who knows. I am going to talk to my church about using their facilities, or maybe I'll just do it at my campus (University of Houston). But, I would love to make it so much more. I would love for it to be a place to come, dance, fellowship, and worship God. A challenge I really forsee is getting the word out. I don't know alot about what this could entail, but I will be a vessel for God to work.
Faith, Hope, and Love,

I'm new to the list. I've had you guys in my favorites for a couple years and decided to come check you out again. You guys have really grown. I think the whole site is an awesome idea. Unfortunately, in my experience I've not run into Christianity/Techno much in my area (SoCal) but I'd definitely be interested in being involved with group fellowships. I havent had time to check the whole site yet but hopefully there is a "location" area according to where one is located. Anyone in SoCal here going to hit Nocturnal this Labor Day weekend? Im excited-I've never seen AVB or Ritchey Hawtin yet!
