Man, I've got the Best Buy Geek Squad blues. I called them up to see how the repairs were going. Originally they had said it would be 10 days from Monday when I dropped it off. Now they're saying I'm not going to get it back till the 26th of January. I think it's because my repair is free since I bought the service plan. People who pay big bucks for their repairs probably get their computers fixed before me.

You know, I think I prayed at some point that I would learn discipline in my computer usage and now I'm paying the price. I know it probably seems like I'm on the computer a lot but it's my desktop from the stone age (that can't run Ableton Live). If I were on my laptop, I probably wouldn't be online nearly as much because I'd be making beats 24/7. So anyway, I think God is training me but sometimes it's hard.

It's such a strange phenomenon, being back in school full-time. If I were still teaching high school, I wouldn't have any time to whine about things. I'd have a stack of papers to grade and lessons to plan. It's interesting how sometimes being overworked and stressed out seems more desireable than having a long vacation with no laptop. I'm sure this is good for me but I've still got the blues.

im sorry man that sucks. i used to work for geek squad for like 3 years as an in-store repair technician. i know about the turnaround time problems most of the stores suffer from. i can also explain how the repair processes actually work, paid vs not-paid, and service plan coverage and all of that if you are confused. thankfully i don't work there anymore, but i still know lots of people that still do.

what was wrong with your laptop by the way?

Bad hard drive, bad battery, ctrl and shift key stick on keyboard, CD drive engages randomly at odd times. I think that's about it.

this one time, i accidentally spilled soda all over my laptop and i took it to get it fixed at the Apple store (the company that makes the actual computer i use) and the next day i went back and picked it up without ever having to get out my wallet.  it was pretty complicated but i managed to figure it out.
