Edited to add the rules from a later post.
OK Two new rules to this thread.

1. If you pretty much ONLY listen to dance music, there's no need to post. Sorry Chris and Daniel. I'm trying to find some options. LOL
2. If you list a band, please list some songs from them that you would consider "selling points" so I can look those songs up. OR tell me what they sound like and why you like them.

Original post starts here
Assuming you have an iPod or some other portable music player, or if you are still downloading songs and burning them to CD...whatever your form is...

What do you listen to? What songs do you own and you HAVE to listen to from time to time? Doesn't have to be Christian. I am just curious as to where my musical tastes are similar to anybody else's here.

Me personally, I have a rather eclectic taste of favorites. Country, Motown, Rat Pack, 80's pop, 80's hiphop, 90's rock. I just can't pinpoint what songs I HAVE to have. This is where you guys come in by listing your songs. If I see something I like as well, I'll make a note of it and put on my mp3 players.

I am on a big MuteMath kick lately.  So, mostly them for the last few days.  but I would also suggest looking up :

Thrice. (amazing track: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SY1SwqLOC3c )
Tree 63 - just released a new album called Sunday

Sigur Ros - uh, yeah, no matter what. especially Tak.

That's what's in my player lately besides a ton ton ton ton of new ambient stuff. If you want some really really good ambient PM me. I will hook you up.

Pedro The Lion - indie rock that deals with many different life stories/issues.  any album but you might start with "It's Hard To Find A Friend"

Iron And Wine - folk music that doesn't suck or is cliche.  my favorite album is "In The Reins" or you might like "Our Endless Numbered Days"

Explosions In The Sky - all instrumental epic indie rock.  they did much of the music for the movie "Friday Night Lights" and you might want to start with "How Strange, Innocence"

Astronautalis - I toured with him a bit.  He's a rapper (not Christian) who actually is entertaining while maintaining artistic credibility.  start with "Split Series Vol. 2" found on the DiscRevolt website.

R.L. Burnside - old style blues with a mix of modern production (sampling, scratching, hip-hop breaks)  "Wish I Was In Heaven Sittin Down"

Half-Handed Cloud - used to play trumpet for Sufjian Stevens.  VERY eclectic.  not many people can get it.  just released "Winding Currents On A Spool"

Boards Of Canada - put you in a beautiful coma chill-out.  all time favorite song is "Left Side Drive" from the album "Trans Canada Highway".  for full album I would recommend "The Campfire Headphase"

to my knowledge except for David Bazan (Pedro The Lion) and Half-Handed Cloud, none of the other artists are Christian.

Oh, and some Ulrich Schnauss is always in order.   www.myspace.com/ulrichschnauss

Alright, so it is technically electronic music, but I wouldn't consider it dance per se.
