I'm looking at getting a new sound card. Preferably USB interface and bus powered, two outs (mono is fine). Also needs to work with os x. Anyone got any suggestions?

i recommened the m-audio ozone.  i would consider selling mine since i can't get it to work with ubuntu studio.  xlr in, 1/4" line in, midi in out, 8 encoders, headphone, works with midi configuration software enigma by m-audio, this thing is the champ.

What is the application and result you are looking for?

M audio should only be used when there are no actual ears involved.

yeah man, i just built one from a kit.  i am very, very pleased.  for a programmer like yourself, you should actually try the max/msp demo, also check the monome forums, try the language chuck and processing as well, make your own controller Smiley www.controllerism.com has a great resource of diy kits

Haha well the straight beef is that I currently use a modified Motu 2408.  I had the analog stage replaced, and a new clock put in it from Black Lion Audio, so it actually sounds pretty good now, but that is my studio set up.  If you guys are talking more of DJ set ups, I just got the Traktor Scratch set up, so I have the NI interface that came with it.
