Is there a place where you can search for which songs are top downloaded by age groups and other demographics that you can use for particular events you will be DJ'ing for?

not age groups,but at  www.radioandrecords.com  you can get the charts of every radio station in the country.
  just do a little research and find out what the "hip" station is in a town and check out their top 20...

Thanks Davo! That's a great resource. Do you know how I can search for a satiations target audience besides listening to their commercials?

Do you know what the top songs would be today for 18 year olds?

i suppose you can look up what format they are,but it's mostly about knowing what kids listen to...which is mostly hip hop. and top 40 ala rihanna/gwen stefani/etc.
