PHONAT mix is more than rocking...and I actually happen to like AH's own version too... Cool

You mean Andy's album version?

unless this is for others to be informed, not a recent personal discovery.

- Are there huge differences between API, SSL and Neve?

API is more upfront great for drums, synths, giutars, rock vocals, very punchy.  Neve is "smoother" better on vocals for some things, some people may say it sounds more vintage.  You'll find API in a lot of Rock and Roll, a decent amount of EDM and hip hop artists use them as well.

and that sounds good being I'm into drum n bass and rock.

I looked through this site:
http://www.ursplugins.com/individual.html

Been looking at the demos and their recreations come really close.

The API one compared to Waves version is closest.  The SSL one seemed to lack in upper mids even with same settings as the Waves.  Neve can't test, since I don't have a UAD card yet, but cost between UAD and URS are just about the same.  So I have found alternate routes other than Waves as far as the console EQs, Comps.

Might want to experiment with slower attack times as well.  The features I like the most on the 2500 are the tone sections and the thrust circuit.  It can be round and warm similar to the neve in feedback mode, and very ssl like in New mode.  Api is punchier in your face more.  At the end of the day, the 2500 will improve your sound, buts it still just a compressor.  The other option is there are people out there like myself that do mastering and when you send over projects you get those sounds without having to buy the gear.

Neve is awesome no doubt.

So.... i don't know about anybody else (who is a bloc party fan)... but did anybody else know that this just came out a week or two ago?

totally caught me by surprise. i did some quick searching and it appears that they pretty much just dropped the album out without making huge announcements or anything. oh well. its available for purchase from their website.

first thoughts though, is that i love it. its getting some so-so reviews at this point, but i don't care. i just finished listening to it, and its wonderful.

I really think it is my favorite album of theirs, better then the previous two. Its more aggressive, more electronic, more abstract, more intense. WOW.

Not huge, but different tones and color. There all great, just different colors, ones blue, the other red, and one green, just need to know which one you like for what application I guess. Neve , SSL, API are top brands, all offer great products.
