Title: Noah DeSmit // New
Post by: noah on December 06, 2007, 11:45:51 PM
Some of you know I used to produce electronic music pretty regularly.  The past two years I've been working mostly on an electro-folk project with my friend.  I have recently began the solo creative process once more.  I have strong leanings towards two very different styles of music and I'm not sure which I find more pleasing or satisfactory.

Tonight I created www.myspace.com/noahdesmit which currently has two new tracks that differ in those two styles.  I'm quite certain which song you guys will enjoy more, but I would highly appreciate feedback on which I seem to pull off better.  Basically, which sounds more natural and like... myself.  Does that make sense?

Also, feel free to become my myspace friend.

Cheers.

Take Cover, of course for me.  I'll leave more comments later.

the world needs more Noah DeSmit releases. :-)

I like em both. You should be one of those diverse artists who can have the freedom to release a dance track and a rock song on the same album.

I don't think I want to do that.  The closest I can think of to something like this would be the varying vibes in Kid A, and I think my styles vary far more than the styles in that album.

Like I told you in the Chris' car, Take Cover rocks!

Haven't listened to the other one yet, will take a listen

take cover is cool as well! nice electro styled stuff.

i like it very very much.  i almost wish it was my own idea for a track.

Thanks Joel :)

So there was some background noise and p-pops in the vocal tracks, but I cleaned those up and the new version should be updated by now.

Great TRACKS, man.
Personally, I don't see the two tracks as clashing, or differing in style.
It's YOUR style.

I could see both of those on the same album, really.
Of course, Take cover is more electronic, and Last Words is acoustic, yet I could hear a similarity in style.

A Very Clean Bleed is kind of a middle ground between the other two.

Great Job.

quite cool, sounds like yourselfes, not wannabe...
has an American vibe to it, but not the cheesy one... like it.
btw DeSmit.. sounds very dutch :)

and I have to agree.. I like the folk tunes more.. clean bleed is a nice mix..

very clean bleed is a way cool track! The other's are good too, but they are more ordinary than the bleed one. It is unique and that's what makes it special! This is the type of track that would make me spend my money! Speaking of.. didn't you say I can DL this somewhere? I need to go back and check that myspace link again. Cheers mate!

Noah, I've not listened to much of your other stuff, so I can't comment on what sounds more like you.

But I'm pretty sure all that stuff sounds like music.

Ha, but seriously... this is good stuff. I have a number of friends who will really dig this (myself included). And I don't think you'd have any problem putting this all on one album, there's enough commonality.

both new ones are great man, the melodies in the instrumental one are serene.

Dirtbag, I logged in last night (Finnish time) to see if there was anything new and there wasn't. I must have been like an hour too early.

Listening now to your trash music.

Both are excellent. I'd buy this album.

dudes!  thanks!

i felt extremely comfortable making these last two.  they're the most like myself.  on "spring instrumental" i used a friends mic that far surpasses mine.  i'm pretty certain a couple new mics are going to be my next investment.

I love what you did with your voice on Last Words. Did you record twice and then play one through left and one through right? Or just chorus it... definitely sounds like you're splitting left and right.
