Title: Traktor Question
Post by: adidax on January 03, 2007, 10:33:53 PM
Is is possible for a song to have 2 BPM's for Traktor 3? Like I have a song that starts out at 171 and toward the middle it slows down to 130, then speed up to 171. Can you set cue points in a way that Traktor knows that the middle is only 130 BPM?

nah you have to do that manually....  ableton allows you to do that by naming your "scenes" the bpm... like if you have a scene named 171 BPM and then another 130 BPM it'll change the tempo...  you might be able to sync tracktor to midi clock and use a midi yoke to communicate between ableton midi clock send and traktor's receiving hte midi clock.... not sure never tried it and it might be kinda complicated for what you're trying to do not sure what it is excactly you're doing...

Tracktor has pissed me off actually, I used it a bit just for a blast but it gets in a frenzy when you try and mix anything with an odd rhythm or changing tempo.

I'll give you an example... download the old norman cook classic 'Beats International' - 'Dub be good to me, it doesn't find the BPM therefore you can't mix with it!!!!!! ARGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :police:

I thought you could manually set the bpm somehow by dragging the markers. I think the important thing about digital mixing is that you set up cue points and bpm markers PRIOR to a show. It takes more time, but when you buy new music, sync it all THEN. after a few months, you should have a rather diverse collection of music ready to play at anytime.

I just got the current version in the mail today. I'll do some checking and see if I can find out about the manual BPM thing.

yes you can, you set "beat markers" on downbeats after the tempo changes and it will keep the song in time then.  Your other option is to adjust the speed manually.  At least with traktor you could always just go back to old school and use the pitch adjust to adjust the speed...  But yes, once you get your collection in line, all you need to do is lock sync to master clock and you can have four tracks going in complete sync!    I had been using traktor for about a year as just two decks and the other night I decided to get daring and start using the 4 decks... it was so fun!!!

You must mean Dave. I'm secure enough to publicly admit to reading manuals and asking for directions. I even got a bit choked up at the end of "The Notebook". It's all those insecure guys that are worried about looking tough.
