Title: The last record that you've bought?
Post by: juice:D on July 12, 2006, 03:55:25 AM
And what did U like about it?
Garbage or platinum?

Mine were:
- azur - stay with me (maxi single)
http://www.cduniverse.com/search/xx/music/pid/6858148/a/Stay+With+Me+Till+Dawn.htm
This CD rocked.
One of best soft trance tunes in LONG time,vocals...voice...yeah...good as it can get in this style.Lyrics I hadn't listen yet.
And if lyrics doesn't fit, there is DUB also.Which is GOOD also.
I LOVE THIS SINGLE.

- crw presents: Veronica - precious life
Good tune...trance.But,yeah...it got over shadowed by AZUR.I didn't listen it too much,'coz I were banging azur. :smiley22:
But not bad tune.

- the aircrash bureau - don't expect me (to forget you)
http://www.discogs.com/release/79813
If I be totally honest.I were lil' bit dissapointed about this tune.I already had one TAB single. This one...didn't werk hard as the one I bought B4.Not evol prog houser...but not...rocking...ANTILOOP which had done good work didn't even  save this CD... :-*

- Oris Jay presents: delsena - trippin'
http://www.ukmix.org/reviews/release.php?release_id=1191
...well...this one...weird...there is original uk garage tune, house mix from agent sumo (which were radio edit :-* <why radio edit's FULL VERSIONS RAWK)...and brother brown makes it prog houser...well original didn't work at all to me...agent sumo were ok,bother brown...well not bad....if you find this cd sheap...buy it...if not, think first before buy.

- funky g featuring:Shauna Jensen - everytime
http://perfectbeat.com/product_info.php?products_id=5025799026128
Remix from Brittney's tune. And I don't care is it good,I just bought it just for fooling...I allways like to fool with pop song remixes... :smiley8:

And all of these did cost 1€ each... I am sucka for http://www.nol.co.il/nolgames/images/games_pictures/sheap.jpg cd's!

The last records I bought were:

Anthony Rother - Compression (Psi City): dark electro beats with his signature disturbing vocoder snippets.

World Class Wreckin' Cru - Juice (Z-Rock Records): Classic electro breakdance action.  Plus it's always hilarious to see how Dr. Dre started out, as this fluffy electro cheese is miles removed from gangsta rap.

Dr. Dre & The Unknown DJ - Scratchin' 100 Speakers (Electro Eternal Records): Another classic electro cut, plus Ronnie Hudson's "West Coast Poplock" on the flipside is like, the greatest track ever.

Disclaimer: Not getting down on Ekkoh. I made a personal choice for my own reasons.

I ditched all of mine probably 13 years ago (man, I'm getting old). Since I'd used it to feed my anger and depression in college, I felt I needed to get rid of it to break the downward spiral I was in. Kind of miss it every once in a while. Circle of Dust was an okay Christian substitute, but there's only one Skinny Puppy! My fave song was the one that talked about Kent State. (From memory so don't bust me for accuracy: "Way back in '68. Ohio, Kent State. Everything was so great. No way. Wrong date.")

Is it my imagination or did CellDweller come from that group, Circle of Dust?

I kinda sorta remember someone saying it did, but hey, I dunno. I just know that he's a fantastic drummer, and that track switchback as well as most of it's remixes are burnt in my brain. I've listened to it so much.

Bob Dylan,   " Modern Times"

Purchased today. Listend to three times. Classic. Rolling Stone gave it five stars and for once I agree with Rolling Stone. Worth the 10$ just for the booklet that was included with all the Dylan album covers in it!

I get most of my CD's from Half-Price Books, thrift stores, or friends copy them for me.

I think the last ones I actually bought were:

Sex Pistols -- Never Mind the Bollocks
Cocteau Twins -- Heaven or Las Vegas (very good but turned out I already had a CD copy.  lol.)
Green Day -- Dookie (already had a copy on tape)
a couple others I can't remember.... must not be important.  *lol*

My bandmate copied both albums of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs recently.  Yay!

I want some Sonic Youth and probably some Skinny Puppy now.  Yum.

Just thought i'd better balance out my Anjunabeats with some classical stuff... The most beautiful piano music you will ever hear: Ludovico Einaudi - Le Onde. I got the whole album on CD but its on iTunes too, i highly recommend the title track, look it up, you will not be able to resist buying it on iTunes!

For peeps in the UK, you may recognise the track from a John Lewis advert which came out in the autumn of 2004, lots of pretty shots of autumnal scenes etc... and perfect music...

*sighs in satisfaction*

NOW GO BUY IT!

Today I got "Credo in Unum Deum" which is Xian ambient with a book included!
It comes from Italy but I ordered my from the Ukraine (Do I win the "hardest of the hardcore" music buyer contest?).

Craig

I just bought szeilenga's ambient disc. GREAT album. So this piques my interest too, Craig! Any more info?

That's how it goes in Finland...alternative Christian stuff is REALLY hard to get,but in that way it is also A LOT MORE SATISFYING to find,if you find...

**It seems to be quite new...**
Some trance artists start to do trance rock...or something like that...we will see who's TF first to mix trance rock mix.... :)
Still...to me trance rock doesn't work...but "Ronski Speed Remix" works actually quite well...
I hope this trance rock dies soon...to me it suck... :smiley28:

I picked up some classic electro jams recently:

Ectomorph - Abstraction
Afrika Bambaataa & Soulsonic Force - Looking for the Perfect Beat

And the one that I'm happiest about, I won Aleem's "Release Yourself" on ebay last week but I'm waiting to hear from the seller so I don't know if it's in the bag yet (record bag, that is)

Hey Brandon, congratulations ! 'Release yourself' is always in my record box, what a classic ! very rare, hope the ebay deal goes through OK. I just love all that Leory Burgess stuff, and very positive vocals.
The last records I bought were a mixture of old + new (just the way I like it). I can't actually remember all the records I bought last, but the ones that stand out are -

'walking into sunshine' - mainline (Larry Levan mix) -very hard to find, funky funky stuff
'mixing ep' - Ame - nice modern deep house/tech crossover with Chicago reference
'sunshower' - Nami Shiamda - 2 copies, - 1 UK version , 1 JPN version
'Mary Mary' - sacred rhythm (bootleg) - Joe Clausell mix -absoultely crazy mix !!
'runnin' - Greene feat. Colonel Abrams - Old skool 80's WBMX rarity.
'Voyage' - DJ Nori, - Fabulous new skool deep techy stuff with soul.
'can you' - Filsonic - Just love this one, simple, rich, driving + deep.

I can't wait to update my collection soon, and get chcking out good Christian modern stuff.

HAHAHAHA that Aleem record was so worth the wait.

I'm also happy that I scored (arguably) the first commercially available 12" single ever - Ten Percent by Double Exposure.  With re-edits by none other than Walter Gibbons.  Oh snap is it ever good.  Best $2 bargain section purchase ever.

If we're talkin EDM vinyl,  the last piece I bought was "To The Club(Highpass Mix)" by Spankoxx and "Rocket Bass" by Jark Prongo.  Got 'em on the same day......About 2 years ago...

If we're just talkin records,  a few weeks ago,  I snagged a copy of "The Mighty Quinn" by Manfred Mann.

Hey Brandon, sounds like we're on the same wavelength !! Congrats on the Aleem record ! Have you watched 'Maestro' yet by the way ?? It's the DVD of the history of dance music. Walter Gibbons is an absolute legend, he was also a born again Christian.
One record above all others I'm trying to buy at the moment is 'gotta little love' by Angela. I heard David Mancuso play it this year. It's incredible. If anyone finds a copy of this, please let me know !

BT - THIS BINARY UNIVERSE

I must say I was dissappointed.

why? (I heard one track (1.something) and I really liked it, was curious for the whole album)

BT - THIS BINARY UNIVERSE

I must say I was dissappointed.

what?! its genius! It may not be EDM that we're used to from BT in the past, but it is an excellent example of electronic music, that will no doubt be studied by music students in years to come.

Now, the DVD... thats a whole different ball game, and doesn't really add anything to the release at all, imo.

DSS Vs ORKIDEA / U&K : Revolution / L'Esperanza (COMING AS VINYL AND CDR):
DSS aka Dallas Superstars team up with Unity label head honcho and DJ stalwart Orkidea on the massive 'Revolution, trance at its purest and most energetic level. On the flip, fellow Finns U&K lay down an excellent cover version of Sven Vath's classic 'L'Esperanza'.
http://www.streetbeat.ac/store/advanced_search_result.php?keywords=dss&x=0&y=0

HEIKKI L feat MIJA PERMANTO : Rising Sun [CDS] - [DANTE006]
'Rising Sun' is a beautiful collaboration between Heikki L, one of Finland's most prolific producers and Idols 2007 finalist Mija Permanto. Acoustic guitars, lush melodies and Mija's infectious vocal takes you back to sandy beaches, margaritas and dancing away to the rising sun. Heikki L's remix welcomes an killer analogic bassline which takes the track to another level. Rounding off the package is Filthy Rich's remix, a solid electro house take which will definately find the fans of that genre.

K SYSTEM : Samba 69 [CDS] - [KOODIGITAL2]
Written by Kimmo "K System" Kauppinen and Jaakko "JS16" Salovaara, 'Samba 69' takes its inspiration from Wink's 'Higher State Of Consciousness' and Good Men's 'Give It Up'. Peetu S delivers the banging remix and Cristal Snow makes a guest appearance on 'Fire It Up', vocalled version of 'Samba 69'. Also includes bonus cut 'The Rhythm' which sees K System teaming up with DJ Mio.

Ooohh, I nearly forgot that one.  I wanted it sooo bad a few months ago and then kind of forgot about it.  (blame it on not having the Hospital Records podcast at my disposal).

I will have to pick it up soon.

STILL THERE IS SOME TRACKS that I could NOT BUY:
CERF, Matt, SHAWN MITISKA & JAREN : Light The Skies [CDS] - [ARMD1039MCD]
Punchy beats and a lovely bassline combined with the stunning vocals courtesy of Jaren make this release a special one. One of the standout tracks on Armin van Buuren's 'A State Of Trance 2007' mix album.

KUNNARI, Alex : Lifter [CDS] - [ITWT3960M]
Alex Kunnari's 'Lifter' has a really cool fresh trance sound and energy. An electro carved bass drives the main focus of the track with an uplifting synth line running through the track. A really gentle breakdown drops back into the hitting bass and makes the gentle soundscape of the breakdown then have a stronger impact. Very catchy and full of happy edged vibes.
